Naoki Bandou is a Japanese voice actor born on December 12, 1957, in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, and raised in Hakodate. He is also known by his birth name, Koichiro Bando. His journey into performance began with theater; he graduated from the Youth Seat Drama School and joined the Shinginkai theater troupe. However, finding it challenging to secure prominent stage roles due to his physical stature, he was drawn to voice acting after working with sound effects during theater productions. A senior colleague's encouragement led him to pursue this new path.
His big break in the anime industry came with the series City Hunter in the late 1980s, where he was frequently called upon to fill a variety of minor roles, providing him with invaluable experience and exposure. In 1991, he landed his first regular character role as Guard Star in The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird.
