Toshimichi Takahashi
Description
Toshimichi Takahashi is a Japanese actor and suit actor born on June 29, 1951, in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. He began his career as a member of the Japan Action Club, an organization that trains action stars and stunt performers, which later became the Japan Action Enterprise. Through this affiliation, he worked extensively on Toei Company tokusatsu productions, often appearing under heavy armor or monster costumes while also providing the characters voices. His career spanned multiple decades from the 1970s through the 1990s.
Takahashi is widely recognized by genre fans for his many antagonist roles across the Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and Metal Hero television series. In the Super Sentai franchise, he played General Deathgiller in the series Dai Sentai Goggle-V and its film adaptation Dai Sentai Goggle-V: The Movie. He also appeared as Armor Knight in an episode of Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger and as Kurama Tengu in Chouriki Sentai Ohranger. Earlier in his career, he played the role of Driver in an episode of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger.
His work in the Kamen Rider franchise includes several notable villain roles. In Kamen Rider Black, he played the major antagonist High Priest Baraom, appearing throughout the series as both the characters human form and voicing the Grand Mutant Baraom. He reprised his involvement with the franchise in Kamen Rider Black RX, where he played multiple roles including the voice of Armored Captain Gatezone and the role of General Jak. He also voiced General Jak in the film Kamen Rider: Run All Over the World.
Beyond the Kamen Rider and Super Sentai franchises, Takahashi appeared in numerous Metal Hero series. These include Space Sheriff Sharivan, where he played the human form of Boxer Beast as well as the character Keith, and Space Sheriff Shaider. He also appeared in Kyojuu Tokusou Juspion as Ikki and in Dennou Keisatsu Cybercop as the civilian form of the android Snooker. His film work outside of television includes a role as Karate Brother 2 in the 1977 anime film Golgo 13: Assignment Kowloon. His later credits include a role as Priest Mordos in the 1996 series Choukou Senshi Changerion.
