Sarah Natochenny is an American voice actress and film editor, widely recognized for her long-running role as the voice of Ash Ketchum in the English-language adaptation of the Pokémon anime series. Born in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens, New York, on September 20, 1987, she studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute's Young Actors Program, as well as at the Upright Citizens Brigade and Magnet Theatre in New York City.

Natochenny began her voice acting career at the age of 18, when she was cast to replace Veronica Taylor as the voice of Ash Ketchum. She made her debut in the role starting with the show's ninth season, Battle Frontier, in 2006. This marked the beginning of a seventeen-year tenure as the protagonist of one of the world's most enduring animated franchises. She described landing the part as the most exciting moment of her life, akin to being struck by Pikachu's Thunderbolt. Beyond Ash, her work on Pokémon has been extensive, encompassing the voices of dozens of other characters over the years, including Ash's mother Delia Ketchum, various Pokémon such as Caterpie, Mimikyu, and Elesa, as well as numerous supporting human characters across multiple series and films.

Her filmography within the Pokémon franchise is vast, covering the majority of the series and films released after 2006. This includes principal roles in series such as Pokémon: Black and White, Pokémon Journeys: The Series, and the final miniseries Aim To Be A Pokémon Master, as well as films like Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!, Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us, and Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution. She also voiced numerous characters in related specials, such as Medicham in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Team Go-Getters Out of the Gate! and Wigglytuff in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness.

In addition to her iconic work on Pokémon, Natochenny has built a diverse career voicing characters in other anime and animated projects. Her notable roles include Aura Sentia in Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V and Yuzuha Shiba in the second season of Tokyo Revengers. She has also lent her voice to characters in animation such as Venomiya and Silke in World of Winx, Lampo in 44 Cats, and Mowgli in The Jungle Book. Her work in video games includes the lead role of Alicia in Bullet Witch and providing voices for major titles like Grand Theft Auto V and Pokémon Masters. In 2024, she received an Anime Awards nomination for Best English Performance for her role as Alya in Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian.

Her contributions to voice acting have been formally recognized. In 2019, she won the Outstanding Animation or Gaming - Demo, Best Voiceover award from the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences (SOVAS). Beyond performing, Natochenny also works as a film editor, having edited documentaries for networks such as MSNBC and served as an assistant editor on several independent films.

Outside of her professional work, Natochenny co-founded the charity Voices for Fosters with fellow voice actress Lisa Ortiz. Inspired by an episode of Pokémon, the organization is dedicated to helping rescued animals find permanent homes and promoting animal foster care. She is of Russian descent and speaks fluent Russian.
