Description
Fred Meijer is a Dutch voice actor and dialogue director, recognized for his extensive work in dubbing animated series and films into Dutch. Born Franciscus Frederik Meijer in The Hague on November 15, 1960, he trained at the Academie voor Kleinkunst, from which he graduated in 1985 after being awarded the Pisuisse-prize for the best theatrical performance of that year.

Meijer is particularly well-known for his long-standing association with the Pokémon franchise in the Netherlands. For over two decades, he has been a pivotal part of the Dutch dub, providing the voice for the character Brock across numerous series and films, starting from the very first season through to the twentieth. His portrayal of Brock can be heard in movies such as Pokémon: The First Movie, Pokémon 2000: The Movie, and Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai, as well as the special Mewtwo Returns. In addition to Brock, Meijer has also been the Dutch voice of Team Rocket's Meowth from the fifteenth season onward, a role he has performed in many subsequent series and films, including Pokémon Journeys: The Series, Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, and movies like Pokémon the Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel and Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!. His Pokémon credits also extend to the role of Grovyle in the special Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness.

Beyond Pokémon, Meijer's career encompasses a wide array of characters in Dutch-dubbed versions of popular international productions. He has voiced Professor Utonium and Fuzzy Lumpkins in The Powerpuff Girls, Lawrence in Phineas and Ferb, Dr. Drakken in Kim Possible, and Buster Bunny in Tiny Toon Adventures. His work also includes roles in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and as Soos in Gravity Falls. In addition to animation, Meijer has contributed his voice to live-action puppetry, notably as the long-standing voice of Telly Monster in the Dutch co-production of Sesame Street, known as Sesamstraat, a role he took over in 1998. He has also voiced characters in feature films, such as Mustafa in Ratatouille, Buttercup in Toy Story 3 and Toy Story 4, and Kai in Frozen.

In 2006, Fred Meijer was awarded the Zilveren Koe (Silver Cow), a recognition for his significant contribution to the quality of dubbing in the Netherlands. He is married to voice actress and director Edna Kalb.
