Sun Young Park

Description
Sun Young Park is a South Korean voice actress known for her extensive work in dubbing foreign animation and live-action films for Korean audiences. She began her voice acting career after joining the 7th group of Daewon Broadcasting voice actors in 2016 and has worked as a freelancer since October 2018. Her vocal delivery is characterized by a thin and soft tone, though she has demonstrated considerable range, often portraying soft or prickly young male characters as well as humorous gag characters early in her career before taking on more villainous roles as a freelancer.

Park has amassed a significant number of credits across many popular anime series. One of her most prominent roles is Aika S. Granzchesta in the Aria franchise, including Aria the Animation, Aria the Natural, Aria the Origination, and the OVA Aria the OVA ~Arietta~. She is also known for playing Haruhi Suzumiya in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, the energetic and domineering lead of the series. In the magical girl genre, she voiced Choi Hyang-gi, also known as Cure Melody, in Suite Precure. Her role as Satoko Hōjō in When They Cry - Higurashi added a darker, more dramatic character to her portfolio.

Her work spans a wide variety of genres and titles. Park voiced Kaoru Akashi in Psychic Squad, Karen Ichijou in School Rumble and its sequel School Rumble: 2nd Semester as well as the School Rumble: Extra Class OVA, and Yang Soran, the Korean-dubbed name for Tomo Takino, in Azumanga Daioh. She played Yu Sarang in Magical DoReMi, Michiru Kawamoto in Air Master, Akane Kimidori in Dr. Slump, Nanami Kanroji in School Days, and Riho Yamazaki in Nightwalker: The Midnight Detective. Her live-action dubbing work includes the role of Rebecca in the 2002 film The Ring. Additional anime roles include Lulu in Gaiking: Legend of Daikū-maryū, Rosalie in Tactics, Yoshino Souma in Bleach, Izayoi and Yuka in Inuyasha, and Felicia Epstein in Oz. She also voiced a character in the Korean animated film The Five-Year-Old's Temple. In the video game space, Park is known as the voice of Moonlight Cookie in the Korean version of CookieRun: Kingdom.

A recurring feature of her career is the frequent collaboration with specific franchises and character types. Her multiple reprisals of the character Aika S. Granzchesta across every installment of the Aria anime series demonstrates her long-term commitment to a single role. Likewise, her performances as Karen Ichijou across multiple School Rumble productions show consistency in ensemble comedy series. Her ability to voice both cheerful heroines like Cure Melody and unsettling characters like Satoko Hōjō highlights her versatility as a performer in the Korean voice acting industry.
