Masayuki Ibu is a stage name used by the Japanese actor and voice actor Masatō Ibu, who was born Satoru Murota on March 28, 1949. Throughout his extensive career, which began in the late 1960s, he has performed under several names, including Sen Ibu, Masami Ibu, and Masayuki Ibu, before settling on Masatō Ibu in the early 1980s. He is known for his deep, distinctive voice and a frequent focus on portraying villainous and authoritative characters.

Ibu's career in voice acting became prominent in the 1970s, and he is perhaps best known for his iconic roles in the Space Battleship Yamato franchise. He first voiced the character of Desler, the leader of the Gamilas Empire, in the original 1970s series. In the same franchise, he also voiced the character Heikurō Tōdō across multiple series and films, including Space Battleship Yamato: The New Voyage, Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato, and the English-language versions Star Blazers: The Comet Empire and Star Blazers: The Bolar Wars. He reprised the role of Desler for the 2010 live-action Space Battleship Yamato film.

His other major voice roles from this era include the lead role of Ultraman Joneus in the 1979-1980 television anime The Ultraman. He played the roles of Chūji Shimizu and Gulf in the series Uchū Kūbo Blue Noah (also known as Space Carrier Blue Noah). In the anime adaptation of the baseball manga Dokaben, he voiced the character Kojirō Inukai as well as the character Nagashima. His extensive filmography also includes the role of Narrator and Troscrus in Gordian the Warrior, Dr. Thelbert in Marine Snow no Densetsu, Ben in Kaitei Daisensō - Ai no 20,000 Miles, Prince Golgoth in The White Whale of Mu, and Black Jack in the theatrical anime Phoenix 2772.

Beyond his extensive anime work, Masayuki Ibu has maintained a parallel career as a live-action actor in films and television dramas. His notable live-action roles include Sgt. Nagata in Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun, appearances in the Japanese historical dramas Fūrinkazan and Segodon, and roles in the Godzilla films Godzilla vs. Megaguirus and Godzilla: Final Wars. This duality has made him a recognizable figure across multiple forms of Japanese entertainment for over five decades.
