Description
JB Blanc is a French-born actor and voice director with an extensive career in English-language anime dubs. Born Jean-Benoît Blanc in Paris, France, he was raised in Yorkshire, England from the age of five. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), graduating in 1990, and spent over fifteen years in British theatre, including a tenure at the Royal National Theatre, before relocating to Los Angeles in 2001. He made his entry into anime voice acting through his RADA contemporary Victoria Harwood, who recommended him to the staff at New Generation Pictures during their casting for the English dub of Hellsing.

Blanc has voiced numerous characters across major anime franchises. He portrayed Enrico Maxwell in both Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate, and took over the role of Joe Joker Carpenter from Crispin Freeman in R.O.D the TV. His work in the Naruto franchise includes the character Pakkun as well as Sasori in his Hiruko form, the Second Tsuchikage Mū, and Mukade in the film Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Lost Tower. In the Bleach franchise, he has voiced multiple characters including Sajin Komamura and Ginrei Kuchiki. He is also known for the role of Alberto Vist in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, Rowe Rickenbacker in L/R: Licensed by Royalty, Percival Gibbons in Lupin III: Part IV, Deacon Frost in Blade, Atsuro Masaki in Time of Eve, Ryotaro Dojima and Taro Namatame in Persona 4: The Animation, Omega Red in Wolverine, Jai in Bleach the Movie: Memories of Nobody, Roberto in Monster, Detective Bob Copper in Megaman Star Force, Lee in Daphne in the Brilliant Blue, and D·D in Dangaizer 3.

Beyond performing, Blanc has also worked as a voice director. He made his voice directing debut on the English dub of L/R: Licensed by Royalty, for which he also provided the voice of Rowe Rickenbacker. His performance as Rowe Rickenbacker earned him a Performance of the Year Award from the Anime Dub Recognition Awards in 2004, and he received a second award from the same organization for his work in R.O.D the TV. He continues to work as a voice director for video games and performance capture beyond the anime industry.
