Randy Tallman

Description
Randy Tallman was an American voice actor known for his work on English language dubs of Japanese anime series, primarily for Funimation Entertainment. Born George Randolph Tallman on December 2, 1939 in Tennessee, he built a career that spanned both voice acting and a deep involvement in live theater. Before his work in anime, Tallman was a prominent figure in the Dallas theater community, serving as a resident company member at the Dallas Theater Center and later working as a freelance actor, writer, and director. He was also a former singer with the folk group The New Christy Minstrels. Tallman passed away on November 20, 2007 at the age of 67 in Bluff City, Tennessee.

Tallman provided voices for a number of notable anime series during the 2000s. His roles included Pope Gorna in the science fiction series Glass Fleet and Ryuuhei in the supernatural series MoonPhase. He voiced the cunning criminal Mason Ordrosso in Black Cat and held the recurring role of Booker Kudo in the English dub of Detective Conan, which is released in North America as Case Closed. In the action-comedy series Desert Punk, he voiced the character Kaoru Kaizuka. Other significant credits included the villainous Fei Wong Reed in Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, Dean Konoe in Negima!, and Captain Genkai Goto in School Rumble.

Tallman was originally scheduled to voice the character Gan Fall in the long-running series One Piece. Due to his illness, he was unable to record the role, which was ultimately performed by fellow voice actor John Swasey. After his death, many of his continuing roles were taken over by other voice actors, including R. Bruce Elliott, John Swasey, and Jerry Russell. His final anime contributions remain a part of the English dubs produced by Funimation during that era, and he is remembered for his distinctive voice work as an elder or middle-aged character actor.
