Description
"Scryed Alteration II Quan" is a two-episode OVA that serves as a sequel to the original "s-CRY-ed" anime series. The story is set in an alternate timeline where the events of the original series have been altered, creating a new narrative trajectory. The protagonist, Kazuma, is no longer the rebellious loner from the original series but instead works as a detective in the HOLD Agency, a government organization tasked with managing Alters—individuals with supernatural abilities. His former rival, Ryuho, now leads a group called the Native Alters, who seek to coexist peacefully with humans but face opposition from both the government and extremist factions.
The central conflict revolves around a mysterious phenomenon causing Alters to lose control of their powers, leading to widespread chaos. Kazuma and Ryuho are forced to confront their shared past and differing ideologies as they investigate the source of the disturbance. Their paths cross with new characters, including a young girl named Kanami, who possesses a unique Alter ability tied to the crisis. The story explores themes of coexistence, power, and the consequences of altering reality, as the characters grapple with their roles in a world where the line between friend and foe is increasingly blurred.
The OVA retains the action-packed sequences and dynamic character interactions of the original series while introducing fresh plot elements and character dynamics. Kazuma and Ryuho’s evolving relationship remains a focal point, as their conflicting perspectives on justice and freedom drive much of the narrative tension. The story concludes with an open-ended resolution, leaving room for further exploration of the altered timeline and its implications for the characters and their world.
