Shinozaki arrives at the school bicycle shed and finds Yuki waiting for him. Yuki presents a bicycle and challenges Shinozaki to ride it. Shinozaki admits he has never ridden a bicycle before. Yuki insists he must learn the basics if he wants to join the cycling club. Shinozaki attempts to mount the bike but immediately loses balance and falls. Yuki demonstrates proper pedaling and steering techniques. Shinozaki tries again, wobbling across the schoolyard before crashing into a pile of tires. Each attempt ends with Shinozaki on the ground, his hands and knees scraped. Yuki remains silent, watching him get up repeatedly. Fukazawa arrives and observes Shinozaki's persistence. Shinozaki finally manages to pedal ten meters in a straight line before stopping. Yuki nods and tells him he has passed the first test. Fukazawa invites Shinozaki to the club room after school. Shinozaki accepts, his palms still bleeding from the falls. Later, Shinozaki sits in the club room surrounded by trophies and bicycle parts. Fukazawa explains the upcoming inter-high qualifiers are three months away. Yuki states she will not ride with anyone who cannot complete a twenty-kilometer loop. Shinozaki looks at his injured hands and says he will ride the loop tomorrow. Yuki turns away, but the corner of her mouth lifts slightly. The episode ends with Shinozaki standing alone on the empty school rooftop, staring at the bicycle parked below.
