Léon Lau is a genius scientist and the central protagonist of the series. Seven years before the main story, he was one of the people responsible for the Xianglong Crisis, a quantum reactor explosion that triggered a chain reaction devastating civilization and causing a rapid evolution of animals into bio-mechanical creatures known as BRAI (Biological Revolutionary of Accelerated Intellect). As a result, he was exiled from the fortified city of Neo Xianglong. Following his exile, he lives in the wasteland outside the city alongside Chloe Lau, a young woman with whom he has entered a contractual agreement to become family. In his day‑to‑day life, Léon is generally quiet and outwardly unremarkable, often appearing useless or listless, but he becomes noticeably talkative and animated whenever the conversation turns to his scientific research or food.

Léon’s primary motivation is to protect Chloe and to atone for the disaster he helped cause. When a large BRAI threatens Chloe, he takes the initiative to pilot a Multi‑purpose Organic Evolution Vehicle (MOEV), a transformable mecha, despite his lack of combat experience. In the heat of battle, he activates a prototype Hyper Drive—a stable quantum reactor he developed—which allows the MOEV to shift into a fully humanoid form and defeat the creature. This success allows him to return to Neo Xianglong, where he joins a special anti‑BRAI unit named Pandora. Within the unit, he works alongside combat specialists such as the martial artist Queenie You, the sniper Doug Horvat, and other pilots, providing the technological expertise and the Hyper Drive that are critical for upgrading the team’s MOEVs.

Over the course of the series, Léon evolves from a solitary, guilt‑ridden exile into a reliable member of the Pandora team. His key relationship is with Chloe, whose presence gives him emotional stability and a reason to fight. He also forms bonds with his teammates, learning to collaborate and trust others in battle. His notable abilities lie in his scientific genius, particularly his knowledge of quantum reactors and the Hyper Drive, which enables the Pandora unit’s mecha to access powerful transformations and techniques. As a pilot, he grows increasingly proficient in operating his MOEV, demonstrating strategic thinking and a willingness to put himself at risk for the sake of others.
