TV-Series
Description
Daichi Shiratori is an esper and the older twin brother of Kaito Shiratori. He is one of several psychic children who were invited to the Awakening Lab, an institution that sought to study and develop their powers. In terms of appearance, Daichi closely resembles his twin, wearing glasses and having thick eyebrows. His most distinguishing physical trait is his round, circular facial features, which contrast with a characteristically dull or blank expression.

The personality of Daichi Shiratori is not extensively detailed in the narrative, but he is presented as a quiet and unassuming figure. His role within the story is almost always defined by his connection to his brother, with whom he shares a profound psychic link. His primary motivation comes from participating in events alongside his brother and other espers, often in response to situations or requests from more central characters like Teruki Hanazawa or Shigeo Kageyama, known as Mob.

Daichi's role in the story begins as one of the young espers from the Awakening Lab. He and his brother become part of the larger community of psychics who develop their abilities away from the antagonistic groups in the series. During the World Domination Arc, Daichi and Kaito demonstrate their growing competence by combining their power to scan the mind of a character named Terada. In a more tactical situation, they also use their telepathic abilities to hide their presence from a powerful Claw esper named Shimazaki, showcasing their ability to use their powers for stealth and evasion.

In the Telepathy Club Mini-Arc, Daichi and his brother are recruited by Mob to assist Tome Kurata in her search for extraterrestrial life. This involvement leads to an unintended consequence when their actions inadvertently reveal Momozo Takenaka as a latent telepath. Later, during the???% Arc, Daichi is present as an observer, witnessing the destructive power of???% as it ravages the city alongside other members of the Awakening Lab. In the series epilogue, he is seen attending a birthday party for Reigen Arataka, indicating that he remains a part of the wider social circle of espers and acquaintances formed throughout the story.

The key relationship in Daichi's life is with his twin brother, Kaito. Their psychic abilities are initially intertwined to the point that Daichi requires his brother to perform any significant psychic feats. Over time, however, he grows in power and can operate alone. The other significant influence on his development is Teruki Hanazawa, who acts as a tutor for the twins. Under Teruki's guidance, they learn to refine their innate telepathic skills.

Daichi's notable abilities are centered on telepathy and mind-reading. He shares this power set with Kaito, and their connection allows them to read each other's thoughts perfectly from the beginning. This shared ability is so fundamental that for a period, Daichi could not manifest powers independently. Through training and growth, he and his brother learn to extend their telepathy outward to read the minds of other people. However, even after this development, their skill is primarily limited to determining whether a person is being truthful or deceitful, rather than gaining full access to all their thoughts. By the later stages of the story, Daichi has become powerful enough to use his psychic abilities on his own, without needing Kaito to be present.
