Description
C-18, known in Japanese as Jinzōningen Jū Hachi-Gō, is a prominent character in the Dragon Ball GT series, having first been introduced in Dragon Ball Z. She was originally a human named Lazuli who, along with her twin brother Lapis, was kidnapped and transformed into a cyborg by the scientist Dr. Gero. Her purpose was to serve as a tool for revenge against the Saiyan warrior Goku. In Dragon Ball GT, she appears with a notable design change, having cut her shoulder-length blonde hair much shorter and often wearing fashionable business attire, a departure from her earlier, more casual outfits.

By the time of Dragon Ball GT, C-18 has undergone a significant evolution in personality from her first appearance. The cold, confident, and ruthless killer driven by her programming is long gone. Instead, she has fully embraced a normal, domestic life. Her sarcastic wit remains a key part of her character, but it is now tempered by her roles as a wife and mother. She lives with her husband, Krillin, and their young daughter, Marron, at the Kame House, the home of Master Roshi. Her motivations are no longer tied to destruction or proving her strength. In GT, her primary driving force is the protection of her family and friends. This shift is most powerfully demonstrated when the villainous Super 17, a fusion of her corrupted brother and a hellish counterpart, kills Krillin. Grief-stricken and furious, she immediately attacks her own twin, prioritizing vengeance and justice over their former bond.

C-18’s role in the Dragon Ball GT storyline is relatively limited but crucial, centering almost entirely on the Super 17 Saga. Before that, she falls victim to the parasitic alien Baby, who possesses her body as part of his plan to conquer Earth, though she is later freed from this control. Her most significant contribution comes during the battle against Super 17. After Krillin’s death, she arrives on the battlefield to assist Goku. Despite being outmatched by the fused android’s power, she fights valiantly, using her energy attacks to try and create an opening for Goku. Her techniques include the Infinity Bullet, a rapid-fire energy blast, and the Destructo Disc, a razor-sharp, guillotine-like energy disk she learned from her husband. Her key relationship in this arc is a tragic one with her brother, Android 17. The story forces her to fight him directly to stop his rampage, creating a poignant conflict between her loyalty to her family of origin and her new family. Her relationship with Goku also solidifies during this fight, as they work together as true allies to overcome a common enemy.

Her development in GT reinforces the theme of found family and redemption that began in Dragon Ball Z. A weapon designed for murder has become a loving mother and a protector of Earth. Her character arc reaches a point of full integration, where her immense power as a cyborg serves her human emotions. Regarding her notable abilities, C-18 retains all the advantages of her cybernetic enhancement. She possesses unlimited stamina and an infinite energy supply, meaning she never tires in battle. Her strength and speed remain far beyond that of a normal human and even most trained warriors. While she does not age or become ill due to her cyborg nature, she retained her human reproductive functions, allowing her to give birth to her daughter. Her bomb, a self-destruct device installed by Dr. Gero, was famously removed years prior by a wish to the Eternal Dragon, a fact she later uses to bluff against an enemy who is unaware of its deactivation. In Dragon Ball GT, her combat role is primarily supportive, using her durable body and relentless energy attacks to aid the primary fighter, Goku, in his final confrontation with Super 17.
