Description
Ken Miyamae is a 27-year-old man who serves as the editor for Umetarou Nozaki's shoujo manga, Let's Fall in Love, which is published in the magazine Monthly Girls' Romance. He stands 171 centimeters tall, was born on September 22, and has blood type A. Miyamae lives with his mother and younger brother, and in his free time, he enjoys reading.

Miyamae is characterized by his calm, responsible, and serious attitude toward his work. He is unsociable and shows little interest in matters outside of his professional duties, disliking unnecessary conversation. This no-nonsense demeanor leads Nozaki to perceive him as the cool, mature type, and Nozaki holds a deep admiration for his editor, even treating him better than he would a girlfriend. In stark contrast to the more flamboyant and troublesome personalities in the editorial department, Miyamae is one of the few sensible and normal adults, known for his prompt email replies and reasonable, constructive comments on manuscripts. His primary motivation is to perform his job competently, a task made more difficult by having to manage the eccentricities of the mangaka under his charge, as well as the chaos caused by his colleague.

His most significant professional relationship is with Nozaki, who relies on him for honest feedback and guidance. The respect is mutual to a degree, as Miyamae recognizes Nozaki's talent, even if he wishes the high school student would allow his characters to behave more intelligently. A key and complicated relationship is with his long-time acquaintance, Mitsuya Maeno. They were classmates in high school and are now colleagues, a situation Miyamae finds deeply stressful because of Maeno's selfish and incompetent personality. This stress has a notable physical effect on Miyamae; he easily gains weight when frequently in Maeno's presence but becomes slim and handsome when free from him, as seen during his high school and college years. During a high school reunion, it was also revealed that he once had a girlfriend; their bond formed over their mutual dislike of Maeno.

Miyamae is a competent editor, but he possesses a notable inability: he is terrible at drawing. On one occasion, he attempted to sketch a cover illustration idea for Nozaki, but the result was so rudimentary that Nozaki mistook it for a joke. His skills are essentially limited to stick figures. Despite this, his reliability and professionalism have earned him the respect and admiration of many other manga artists in the company, especially those who have had to endure Maeno's poor editing. Over the course of the series, his role remains that of the steadfast professional, providing a stable, if somewhat blunt, anchor for Nozaki amidst the comedic chaos of creating a romance manga.
