Description
Natsuki Shinohara is an eighteen-year-old third-year student at Kuonji High School, born on July 19, 1992. She is a member of the school's kendo club and is known for her energetic and positive personality, which makes her very popular among her peers. She comes from the prestigious Jinnouchi family, a lineage with deep roots in samurai history and tradition. Natsuki was raised in a large, tightly knit household and holds great respect for her great-grandmother, Sakae Jinnouchi, whose teachings and values have shaped her character. Despite her outgoing and confident nature, she also has a mischievous and playful side, as seen when she invites her classmate Kenji Koiso to her family's estate and introduces him as her fiancé without his prior knowledge—a plan intended to fulfill a promise to her great-grandmother.

Natsuki's motivations are driven by her deep love for her family and her desire to honor their legacy. She is fiercely loyal and caring, especially toward her relatives, and she looks up to Sakae as a role model of strength and wisdom. While she is socially adept and charismatic, Natsuki is not particularly skilled with technology or the virtual world of OZ; her strengths lie in her emotional intelligence, her ability to inspire those around her, and her unwavering determination.

Her role in the story begins as the person who brings Kenji into the Jinnouchi family circle, but she quickly becomes a central figure in the battle against the rogue artificial intelligence Love Machine. Although she is not a hacker or strategist like Kenji, she takes on a critical role as an emotional pillar for her family, rallying them during the crisis. Her most notable contribution occurs in the climax, where she engages in a high-stakes game of Hanafuda Koi-Koi against Love Machine inside OZ. Using the skills she learned from her great-grandmother, Natsuki wins back hundreds of compromised accounts, ultimately helping to disable the AI and prevent a global catastrophe. This moment demonstrates her courage, perseverance, and the strength she draws from her family's unity.

Natsuki's key relationships include her close friendship with Kenji Koiso, which deepens over the course of the film into mutual respect and romantic feelings. She shares a special bond with her great-grandmother Sakae, whose death motivates Natsuki to take a more active role in the fight. She also has a complicated history with Wabisuke Jinnouchi, her half-great-uncle, whom she once considered her first love. Throughout the extended Jinnouchi family, Natsuki is well-loved and respected, though she occasionally struggles with the expectations placed on her.

Over the course of the story, Natsuki undergoes significant development. She begins as a somewhat carefree and manipulative young woman who uses deception to achieve her personal goals, but the crisis forces her to mature into a determined and courageous leader. She learns to channel her devotion to her family into actionable strength, proving that her value does not come from technical prowess but from her emotional resilience and ability to unite others. Her journey highlights the power of family, tradition, and personal growth in the face of overwhelming odds.
