Description
Kon is a Modified Soul, an artificial being created as part of the controversial Project Spearhead within the Soul Society. His spirit is housed within a small lion plushie, a vessel that defines his physical limitations and comedic presence throughout the film. Because he is a Mod-Soul, his existence is technically a construct, and his memory data carries enough spiritual weight to be analyzed by Kisuke Urahara for critical information regarding the Shinenju and the Blanks. However, his plushie body grants him no real strength, speed, or combat ability, leaving him largely defenseless in direct conflict.
His role in the story is primarily that of a comic foil. Ichigo Kurosaki assigns him the task of watching over the mysterious girl Senna, an arrangement that immediately frustrates Kon and generates the film's comedic tension. He spends much of his time complaining about his situation, expressing lecherous desires, and trying to get out of his duty. His personality is loud, crude, and selfish, and he has a playful but antagonistic relationship with Ichigo, whom he constantly tries to prank or disobey.
