Description
Pell is a supporting character in the animated film One Piece: The Desert Princess and the Pirates: Adventure in Alabasta, where he serves as one of the two captains of the royal guard of the desert kingdom of Alabasta, alongside his fellow captain Chaka. Known by the title Pell the Falcon, he is regarded as the strongest warrior in the entire kingdom and one of the most trusted protectors of the Nefertari royal family. He serves directly under Igaram, the head of the royal guard, and has dedicated his life to shielding King Cobra, Princess Vivi, and the kingdom itself from harm.
Pell has a distinctive appearance that reflects his Devil Fruit powers, with purple lines running down his face beneath his eyes that give him a falcon-like look. Beneath his clothing he is heavily muscled, and his torso carries two large star-shaped scars. His personality is gentle, honest, and kind, and he possesses a strong sense of honor and duty. He confronts Baroque Works agents directly, easily defeating groups of them and rescuing Vivi when she is in danger, though he is also overpowered at one point by Nico Robin's Devil Fruit ability and later ambushed and shot by an enemy. His role in the story becomes most significant at the climax, when a massive bomb is set to destroy the capital. Seeing no other way to save the city and its millions of inhabitants, Pell takes hold of the bomb and flies it high into the sky, intending to absorb the explosion himself as an act of self-sacrifice. To everyone's astonishment, he survives the blast, having risked his life to protect everything he swore to serve.
