TV-Series
Description
C.C. is a central figure whose real name and true age remain unknown throughout the series, though she has lived for several centuries. She possesses a pale complexion, long light green hair, and golden eyes. Physically, she appears as a young woman of slender build and above-average height.

Her past, revealed through fragments of memory, shows she was originally a slave in Europe. As a child, she escaped her captors and took refuge in a church, where she met a nun who offered her a contract. The nun granted C.C. the power of Geass, which in her case manifested as the ability to be loved by others. After years of using this power, it grew strong enough for her to kill the nun and inherit the Code, a mark that granted her immortality and the ability to bestow Geass upon others, at the cost of losing her own Geass ability. This event left her cursed to live forever as an immortal witch, a state she came to view as a painful and lonely existence.

C.C. often speaks in a detached, mocking, and enigmatic tone, which adds to her mystique. She frequently makes sarcastic comments and shows a distinct lack of concern for social norms, often lounging around in revealing clothing or eating pizza, which has become an iconic character trait. Despite her casual and sometimes cold demeanor, she possesses a kind heart. She carries immense guilt over the suffering she has caused others, particularly those to whom she has given Geass, such as the boy Mao, whose mind-reading ability drove him insane. This self-loathing leads her to frequently speak of herself in derogatory terms, calling herself a witch.

C.C.'s primary motivation is to end her own existence. Her wish, the one she hopes will be fulfilled by those she contracts with, is to die and be free from the eternal cycle of pain and isolation. She sees death as a release from her immortality. Her contract with Lelouch vi Britannia is formed in the hopes that he will one day be powerful enough to grant this wish. However, her true, deeper desire is not simply death, but to be genuinely loved, a wish that was corrupted by her original Geass power which forced love rather than fostering it.

In the story, C.C. is the catalyst for the entire plot. After being held captive by the Britannian military and inadvertently freed by Lelouch, she saves his life and offers him the contract for Geass. From that moment on, she becomes his accomplice, co-leader of the Black Knights, and his closest confidant. She pilots the Knightmare Frame Gawain alongside him and later fights in her own custom Akatsuki unit. She acts as a shadow leader, commanding the Black Knights in Zero's absence and using her centuries of experience to negotiate and strategize. She is instrumental in helping Lelouch regain his memories after they are sealed by the Emperor.

Her most significant relationship is with Lelouch. They begin as partners in a mutual agreement, using each other for their own ends. Over time, this evolves into a deep, complex bond of trust and affection. He is the only person who ever sees her true past and understands her wish, and she remains the sole individual who never betrays him, standing by his side when all others turn against him. She also has a history with Lelouch's mother, Marianne, with whom she shared a close friendship and a plan to reshape the world. Another key relationship is with Mao, a former contractee whose obsession with her forced Lelouch to intervene and ultimately led her to kill Mao herself to end his suffering.

C.C. undergoes significant development. For centuries, she was a passive observer, granting Geass to others with the sole hope that one would end her life. Through her partnership with Lelouch, she begins to re-engage with the world. When she is on the verge of having her Code taken by the Emperor Charles, which would grant her wish for death, Lelouch's intervention forces her to confront her true feelings. She realizes she does not simply wish to die, but rather values her connection with him. She then willingly seals her own Code, losing all memories of her identity as C.C. and temporarily becoming a simple, kind slave girl before her memories are restored. In the end, she abandons her wish for death, accepts her immortality, and becomes the sole living witness to Lelouch's final plan, the Zero Requiem, weeping at his death and choosing to continue living in a world he changed.

C.C. possesses several notable abilities due to her Code. She is functionally immortal, capable of regenerating from any wound, including gunshots to the head and heart. This immortality also grants her agelessness. Her Code makes her completely immune to the effects of any Geass, including Lelouch's power of absolute obedience. As a Code-bearer, she has the ability to form contracts and bestow Geass upon others. She can also use the mark on her forehead to forcibly cancel a Geass that has gone out of control. Additionally, through physical contact, she can enter the minds of others, manifest as a holographic projection, and share memories or communicate telepathically.
