Yukana, whose birth name is Yukana Nogami, is a Japanese voice actress and singer born on January 6, 1975, in Futtsu, Chiba Prefecture. She is affiliated with the talent management firm Sigma Seven. Her path to becoming a voice actor was influenced by a childhood illness; doctors predicted she might not live past twenty, an experience that motivated her to leave a mark on the world through a career in entertainment. Growing up in a musical household with parents who were choir section leaders, she began classical vocal training at a young age and started playing the piano at five. She entered the Japan Narration Acting Institute, run by ARTSVISION, during her first year of high school.

Yukana made her professional debut in 1993 while still a high school senior, providing the voice for the lead character Mirai Ozora in the original video animation (OVA) series Moldiver. She also performed the series' opening and ending theme songs under her birth name. Her first leading role in a television anime came in 1995, playing Azusa "Azuki" Noyama in the series Azuki-chan. That same year, she also voiced Yuri Tanima in Wedding Peach. In 2001, she officially shortened her stage name from Yukana Nogami to simply Yukana, explaining that she preferred to be called by only her given name.

Throughout her extensive career, Yukana has portrayed a vast array of characters across numerous anime series, films, and video games. She is widely recognized for several iconic roles. She voiced the mysterious and immortal C.C. in the Code Geass franchise, a role she has reprised in numerous sequels and films, including the 2019 movie Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection. In the long-running Pretty Cure series, she played Honoka Yukishiro, also known as Cure White, a role that began with Futari wa Pretty Cure in 2004 and continued in many subsequent films and crossover events like Hugtto! Precure Futari wa Precure All Stars Memories. Another signature role is Teletha "Tessa" Testarossa in the Full Metal Panic! series. Her other notable anime roles include Cecilia Alcott in Infinite Stratos, Tear Grants in Tales of the Abyss, Miledi Reisen in Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest, Kongō in Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Ars Nova, Kale in Super Dragon Ball Heroes, Lalamon in Digimon Savers, Reinforce Zwei in Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS, and Lisa in Listeners.

Beyond her anime work, Yukana has also contributed her voice to video games, such as Ai Nanasaki in Amagami SS, and tokusatsu productions, like Mezool in Kamen Rider OOO. Her voice is described as having a wide range, capable of portraying characters who are gentle, lively, or coolly composed, and she occasionally takes on young boy roles.

Throughout her decades-long career, Yukana has frequently collaborated with many other prominent voice actors. Following the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, Yukana recorded a message of encouragement for those affected, speaking in the character of Tessa from Full Metal Panic!.
