Description
Kibitoshin is a character who appears in the anime Dragon Ball GT as the permanent fusion of the deity East Supreme Kai and his servant Kibito. This fusion was an unexpected result of using the Potara earrings during a critical moment in the battle against Majin Buu, and unlike the temporary fusion used by other characters, Kibitoshin remains fused throughout the events of Dragon Ball GT. In terms of personality, Kibitoshin is largely dominated by the consciousness and mannerisms of the East Supreme Kai, meaning he retains a somewhat nervous, well-meaning, and formal disposition. Despite his divine status, he can come across as comical or clumsy at times, especially when reacting to the more eccentric behavior of the Elder Kaioshin. He is genuinely concerned with the safety of the Earth and the universe, and he dutifully applies his godly powers to assist Earth's defenders whenever a major threat arises.

Throughout Dragon Ball GT, Kibitoshin's primary motivation is to support Son Goku and his allies against new villains, acting as a crucial strategist and support ally rather than a frontline fighter. His most significant role occurs during the Baby Saga. When the parasitic alien Baby overwhelms a de-powered Goku, Kibitoshin and the Elder Kaioshin intervene to save Goku's life. They transport him to the Kaioshin Realm and oversee a painful but necessary procedure to regrow his Saiyan tail, believing this is the key to unlocking a hidden reserve of power. Kibitoshin serves as an assistant during this process, which ultimately enables Goku to achieve the Super Saiyan 4 transformation.

Beyond this pivotal act, Kibitoshin provides essential support in the battle against Baby. He locates a sacred water that is capable of purifying the parasitic eggs Baby had implanted in Gohan, Goten, and Trunks, freeing them from the villain's control. Kibitoshin also uses his extraordinary teleportation abilities to rescue Goku from a lethal attack by Baby, even though the explosion's force creates a dimensional rift that temporarily separates them. Later, when Baby's actions cause the Earth to become unstable and face destruction, Kibitoshin helps relocate many Earthlings to safety on another planet. Kibitoshin's key relationships during this series are primarily with the Elder Kaioshin, with whom he shares the Kaioshin Realm and a dynamic of exasperated patience, and with Goku, whose strength and reckless courage he respects and supports. In the subsequent Shadow Dragon Saga, his role becomes more that of an observer and explainer, as he and the Elder Kaioshin reveal the origin of the Shadow Dragons, explaining that the overuse of the Dragon Balls has generated negative energy which has now manifested as a series of powerful enemies.

Kibitoshin does not undergo significant personal development in Dragon Ball GT, as his character arc was largely completed in the earlier Dragon Ball Z series. Instead, he serves as a consistent and wise supporting figure who retains the combined experiences, memories, and abilities of East Supreme Kai and Kibito. His notable abilities are extensive and make him an invaluable asset. His most prominent power is a form of instantaneous teleportation that differs from Goku's technique; it does not require sensing a specific energy signature and can transport himself and others to any location he can visualize, allowing him to travel between planets and even dimensions almost instantly. He also possesses the power to restore the energy and stamina of others, a healing ability he uses to aid wounded warriors. As a fusion of two divine beings, his overall power is significantly amplified compared to his individual components, and he retains access to other supernatural skills such as telekinesis, materializing objects, and reading the minds of others to gauge their thoughts or power levels.
