His past is deeply intertwined with the central figures of the story, as he spent his childhood playing with Yuria and observing the training of Raoh and Toki. Jūza fell deeply in love with Yuria, but his world was shattered when he discovered she was actually his younger half-sister, sharing the same father. This painful revelation led him to renounce his duties and adopt a hedonistic, carefree, and promiscuous lifestyle as a way to bury his emotional pain.

Jūza's personality is a complex blend of apparent nihilism and profound loyalty. On the surface, he is known for his jovial, teasing, and seemingly irresponsible demeanor, often playing pranks on others or refusing to follow orders. He is highly emotional and driven by his passions, which leads him to treat most matters as a joke. However, this carefree exterior masks a deep-seated sorrow and a man capable of immense seriousness and determination when the situation truly demands it. His motivations shift dramatically upon learning that the Nanto General he is sworn to protect is none other than his beloved Yuria. At that moment, his previous apathy vanishes, replaced by a resolute oath to die for her sake, finally giving him a purpose to rally against the advancing army of Raoh.

Within the story, Jūza plays the critical role of the final obstacle for Raoh, stalling the Conqueror's march long enough for Kenshiro to reach Yuria. As the last of the Goshasei, he is considered the most gifted among them, despite forging his own path rather than adhering to a traditional school. His key relationships are defined by his tragic family ties and old rivalries. He is the half-brother of Ryuga, the Lone Wolf Star, and the older half-brother of Yuria. Impressed by his unwavering spirit, Raoh honors Jūza with a proper burial after his death.

Jūza is a master of a self-styled, formless martial art known as Garyū no Ken or the Formless Fist. This style relies on unpredictable movements and feints, making it nearly impossible for opponents to read his intentions, as his techniques appear spontaneous like shifting clouds. He specializes in ultra-close combat, where he can deliver devastating blows with minimal motion. His notable abilities include immense physical strength, allowing him to break steel chains and tear apart giant mutant bears, as well as incredible speed that lets him create after-images. He is a master of Tōki, or fighting spirit, capable of unleashing powerful ki-based attacks such as the Gekiheki Haisui Shō, a blast of chi from his hands. Despite his offensive prowess, his style is noted to be weak in defense, a flaw he compensates for with agility and relentless attack.
