Description
Cherry, designated as JSM-02C, is one of the three special emotion-capable marionettes discovered by Otaru Mamiya in the anime Saber Marionette J. Physically, she is the shortest of the three and has long twin tails of purple hair, typically wearing a pink outfit that reflects her gentle and feminine nature.

In terms of personality, Cherry embodies the archetype of the Yamato Nadeshiko, the ideal traditional Japanese woman. She is calm, polite, mature, and soft-spoken, often using very formal language that underscores her refined demeanor.

However, beneath this composed and proper exterior lies a deeply romantic and imaginative nature. Her primary motivation is to be the perfect wife for her master, Otaru, whom she always addresses with great formality and respect. She frequently gets lost in elaborate daydreams and fantasies about their life together, which can sometimes be surprisingly romantic or even perverse, contrasting sharply with her usual ladylike behavior. Her desire to please Otaru is the driving force behind most of her actions.

Within the group dynamic, Cherry serves as the brains and the homemaker. She is the team's chef, possessing gifted culinary skills and taking great pride in preparing meals for Otaru and the other marionettes. Unlike the more childlike Lime or the brash Bloodberry, Cherry is highly intelligent, analytical, and equipped with the best sensors of the three, often acting as the group's tactician or scout.

Her key relationships are central to her development. She is intensely devoted and loyal to Otaru, viewing him as her master and the object of her deepest affections. This devotion places her in a friendly rivalry for his attention, particularly with Bloodberry, with whom she frequently argues but maintains a close, sisterly bond. Her relationship with the innocent Lime is generally more maternal, though she can become flustered by Lime's guileless questions.

Throughout the story, Cherry demonstrates notable abilities in addition to her domestic skills. While she is the physically weakest of the three marionettes, she compensates with precision and skill in combat, proving that her demure personality hides a fierce and capable fighter when the need arises. Her advanced analytical and scanning abilities also make her invaluable for gathering information.

Cherry's character development involves exploring the full range of her emotional capacity. Her journey sees her moving from simply acting out a pre-programmed ideal to genuinely grappling with complex feelings of love, jealousy, and later, maternal instincts. In the sequel series Saber Marionette J to X, her maternal side is highlighted when she finds and cares for a lost baby clone, displaying a deep capacity for nurturing. Ultimately, following a heroic sacrifice and a subsequent rebirth as a human child, Cherry is adopted by Otaru as his daughter, fulfilling her wish to become human and beginning a new chapter in her existence.
