Description
Iwao Oguro, known as Knuckleduster, is a central character in the spin-off manga series. His story begins long before his appearance as a vigilante, as he was once a renowned professional hero. Operating in Japan under the name O'Clock and known in China as the Hyper Quadfist, his career was cut short when his Quirk was forcibly stolen by the iconic villain All For One. This traumatic event left him Quirkless and seemingly dead to the world, but it did not break his will.

His personal life is marked by profound tragedy, which serves as the primary engine for his actions. After losing his Quirk, his relationship with his daughter, Tamao Oguro, became severely strained, particularly after he disapproved of her desire to pursue a career in music. Following a heated argument, Tamao left home and subsequently disappeared. Compounding his despair, his wife fell into a bedridden, catatonic state. During his investigation to find his daughter, Knuckleduster made a horrifying discovery: Tamao's body was being controlled by a parasitic entity named Kuin Hachisuka, who was a key operative in the Villain Factory, a criminal organization spreading a dangerous Quirk-enhancing drug called Trigger. This revelation transformed his search for his daughter into a one-man war against the organization that had enslaved her.

Knuckleduster possesses a personality forged by hardship and a relentless sense of justice. He is a brutal, unorthodox, and often violent individual who prefers to solve problems with his fists rather than words. He is fearless, showing no hesitation in confronting villains with powerful Quirks, and he seems to relish the challenge of a difficult fight. Despite his intimidating and aggressive exterior, which often manifests as a reckless tendency to punch first and ask questions later, he is deeply caring and good-hearted. This is most evident in his role as a mentor and father figure to the young vigilante Koichi Haimawari, whom he trains to be a better hero. He also shows unwavering love for his family, his entire mission being driven by the desire to rescue his daughter.

His primary motivation is twofold: to rescue his daughter Tamao from the control of Kuin Hachisuka and to dismantle the Villain Factory that is destroying his community. While he operates outside the law, he is not driven by a desire for fame or recognition. Instead, he seeks to strike at the criminal elements that licensed heroes cannot or will not reach, fighting for justice in the shadows where the light of official heroism does not shine.

In the story, Knuckleduster serves as a catalyst for the main protagonist, Koichi. He takes the reluctant Koichi under his wing, subjecting him to rigorous combat training and pushing him to refine his weak Quirk, "Slide and Glide," into a formidable tool for heroism. His role is that of a gritty mentor, teaching Koichi not just how to fight, but what it means to take responsibility as a vigilante. His relationships are defined by his mission. He has a tense but cooperative relationship with the pro hero Eraser Head (Shota Aizawa), who initially mistakes him for a Quirk-user but later comes to respect his abilities. He also works with the detective Tanuma, who provides a link to official channels. In the criminal underworld, his former Quirk, Overclock, ends up in the hands of Number 6, a villain who holds a twisted and obsessive admiration for Knuckleduster, even self-inflicting a scar to mimic his appearance.

Throughout the series, Knuckleduster experiences significant development. His relentless pursuit of Kuin culminates in a brutal final confrontation where he successfully extracts the parasitic entity from his daughter's body and revives her. After achieving his primary goal of saving Tamao, he disappears for a time, leaving his signature brass knuckles behind, before eventually returning to continue his fight against the remnants of the Villain Factory and protect the city from the shadows.

Knuckleduster's most notable ability is his effectiveness in combat despite being completely Quirkless. He relies on a combination of peak human physical conditioning, a high tolerance for pain, and exceptional skill in hand-to-hand combat, typically using a pair of brass knuckles as his weapon. His strategic mind allows him to quickly assess an opponent's ability and devise a counter-strategy on the fly. He utilizes a grappling rope for mobility and has modified his brass knuckles into a versatile tool, creating versions that function as both a taser and a defibrillator to counter specific threats. His sheer tenacity and battle experience make him a formidable opponent to super-powered villains and even pro heroes like Eraser Head, who initially mistook his toughness for a Quirk.
