Movie
Description
Diablo is a primordial demon who serves as one of the most powerful and loyal subordinates to Rimuru Tempest, the ruler of the Jura-Tempest Federation. Originally known as Noir, he ranks among the seven primordial demons as the Primordial Black and is the third oldest among them. For millennia, he existed in the spiritual world, displaying whimsical tendencies and little interest in conventional power struggles, a disinterest that often irritated his fellow primordials. His life changed when he answered a summoning from the Silver Wings adventurers and confronted Shizue Izawa. The anti-magic mask she wore repelled him, sparking a deep fascination that led him to secretly observe her. After the mask was broken and came into the possession of Rimuru Tempest, Noir concluded that Rimuru held the key to understanding the truth of the world and became determined to serve him. He eventually answered a summoning by Rimuru and, upon being given the name Diablo, evolved into a demon lord.

Diablo's personality is a study in calculated whimsy combined with high etiquette. Outwardly, he is relaxed and often appears emotionless, yet he harbors a deep curiosity and a desire for new experiences. This calm exterior masks a cold and ruthless nature toward enemies, though he treats Rimuru's allies with consistent amiability. He despises being indebted to anyone, as shown when he secretly saved one of Shizue's students and demanded secrecy as repayment. Diablo is strategically analytical and individualistic, prioritizing efficiency and long-term objectives, and he frequently employs deception to achieve his goals. His primary motivation is an intellectual pursuit intertwined with a powerful need for validation through his service to Rimuru. He pledged absolute loyalty to his master, serving as his personal butler and the second secretary of the Jura-Tempest Federation. His devotion is so profound that he has a deep-seated fear of being dismissed by Rimuru and will ruthlessly punish anyone who insults his master, unless directly countermanded. He interprets Rimuru's commands literally but will exploit any ambiguities to act according to his own judgment, which often prioritizes staying close to Rimuru's side.

In the movie That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea, Diablo plays a significant role. The story involves a curse placed on the bloodline of Queen Towa by a primordial demon named Violet, who had aided one of Towa's ancestors and in exchange left a cursed tiara that afflicts the family across generations. Diablo is the one who confronts and battles Violet directly to force her to release the curse on Towa and her family. This fight is noted as a highlight of the film's action sequences, showcasing his power in a direct confrontation with another being of primordial origin. His key relationships are defined by his absolute loyalty to Rimuru, and in this movie, his role expands to pitting him against a fellow primordial, demonstrating his commitment to serving his master's will by dealing with powerful threats.

In terms of development, Diablo has already undergone his primary evolution from the archdaemon Noir to the demon lord Diablo upon receiving his name from Rimuru. His role in the movie does not show a further transformation but rather reinforces his established character as a fiercely loyal and immensely powerful enforcer for Rimuru. He is recognized as Rimuru's strongest subordinate among the Twelve Guardian Lords. His strength comes not just from raw power but from his immense battle sense, refined techniques, and extensive knowledge of magic. Despite his already formidable prowess, his power is further amplified through Rimuru's unique ability, Food Chain, which shares power with named subordinates. Even before his naming, Diablo was known for his exceptional power efficiency, which allowed him to trivialize conflicts and remain an archdaemon despite possessing strength sufficient for demon lord evolution. As a demon lord, his appearance has shifted from wearing aristocratic attire to a butler's outfit with a red chain that symbolizes his service, all while retaining his dignified presence and his core association with the color black.
