TV-Series
Description
Fumikage Tokoyami, who operates under the hero name Tsukuyomi, is a student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School. By the time of the final season, he has grown from a talented but volatile trainee into a decisive hero capable of influencing the outcome of a large-scale war. His most distinguishing feature is his avian appearance, characterized by a black crow-like head with a sharp, light-brown hooked beak and thin red eyes, which contrasts with his fair-skinned human body. Over the course of the series, his lean frame becomes more muscular due to intensive training, particularly under the Pro Hero Hawks. He also bears a scar on his left foot from an encounter with the villain Dabi during the Paranormal Liberation War.

Tokoyami possesses a reserved, earnest, and intensely focused personality. He often adopts an archaic and dramatic speaking style, referring to himself as a creature of the darkness. He is generally stoic and unmoved by trivial matters, yet he demonstrates deep loyalty and protectiveness toward his friends and mentors. While he embraces a dark aesthetic in his interests and living quarters, he can display quiet humility and a degree of self-consciousness when these interests are pointed out by others. His intense emotions, particularly anger, have historically been a trigger for his Quirk to become unstable, a flaw he works diligently to master. As the series progresses into its final season, his earlier shyness gives way to a confident and courageous demeanor, exemplified by his willingness to risk his life to save his mentor, Hawks.

His Quirk, Dark Shadow, is a sentient, shadow-like entity that lives within his body. Dark Shadow possesses its own consciousness and can communicate with Tokoyami, and the two share a deep, equal bond. This ability is highly versatile, allowing Tokoyami to use the entity for close-range attacks, wide-area defense, high-speed mobility, and rescue operations. The power and controllability of Dark Shadow are directly tied to the surrounding light levels. In bright conditions, such as under direct sunlight or against enemies who wield fire or light-based Quirks, Dark Shadow weakens significantly but becomes easier to command. Conversely, in darkness, Dark Shadow grows enormously powerful and gains immense strength, but this power comes with a significant risk of it becoming feral, violent, and uncontrollable, even attacking its own host. During the final season, after years of training and combat experience, Tokoyami gains greater mastery over this volatility, enabling him to unleash Dark Shadow's full power strategically without losing control.

Throughout the story, Tokoyami's role evolves from one of the strongest members of Class 1-A into a key player on the front lines of the final war. His abilities earn him a work-study under Hawks, the then-Number Two Pro Hero, a relationship that becomes central to his development. Hawks helps Tokoyami mitigate his weaknesses in close combat and improve his physical conditioning, while Tokoyami, in turn, develops a profound sense of loyalty to his mentor. This bond crystallizes during the final season when Tokoyami rescues Hawks from Dabi, shielding him from flames that directly counter Dark Shadow and carrying him to safety. In the decisive battle against the ultimate villain, All For One, Tokoyami plays a crucial role. Using the darkened skies to his advantage, he achieves a Total Release of his Quirk, creating a colossal version of Dark Shadow that cracks All For One's helmet and briefly overpowers the villain, demonstrating a level of strength that even All For One acknowledges as a threat.

Tokoyami's key relationships within Class 1-A are built on mutual respect. He holds a strong tactical respect for Izuku Midoriya, having worked with him effectively during the Sports Festival cavalry battle and having been rescued by him when Dark Shadow rampaged during the training camp. He has a straightforward rivalry with Katsuki Bakugo, whom he fought in the Sports Festival and who later helped subdue his rampaging Quirk, an act for which Tokoyami is grateful. He also works exceptionally well with Tsuyu Asui, as their Quirks complement each other's strengths and weaknesses in combat scenarios. He maintains a good relationship with Mezo Shoji, having apologized for accidentally injuring him during a loss of control, an incident Shoji bore no grudge for.

Tokoyami's development is a continuous journey of mastering his own inner darkness. Early on, he is highly dependent on Dark Shadow for offense but is vulnerable if an enemy bypasses the entity to attack his body directly. After receiving advice from All Might, he develops his ultimate moves, starting with Black Ankh, which wraps Dark Shadow around his body like a suit of armor to enhance his physical combat abilities. Under Hawks' tutelage, he creates Black Fallen Angel, which allows him to fly by having Dark Shadow carry him. By the final war, his mastery culminates in techniques like Ragnarök, which unleashes a massive, rampage-level Dark Shadow, and finally the Light of Baldur, a devastating, fully released punch that channels the totality of his power. His journey reflects the series themes of a hero integrating all aspects of themselves, light and dark, to become a truly formidable force.
