TV-Series
Description
Conis is a resident of the sky island Skypiea, first encountered by the Straw Hat pirates on Angel Beach. She lives with her father, Pagaya, and has a small, intelligent pet cloud fox named Su who is constantly by her side. Physically, she has the appearance typical of a Skypiean, with a pair of small wings on her back. She has blonde hair styled into two braids with ball-shaped tips, and she typically wears a high-collared dress with a pair of sandals.
Conis is initially introduced as a cheerful, friendly, and helpful guide to the newcomers from the Blue Sea. She demonstrates a strong sense of personal integrity and deep care for the well-being of others, including the people of her island and the strangers she has just met. This moral core is her most defining characteristic, which creates a central conflict for her during the Skypiea arc, she is forced to reconcile her naturally honest and kind personality with the oppressive rules imposed by the island's tyrannical ruler, the self-proclaimed god Enel.
Her role in the story begins as a hospitable local who explains the unique culture of Skypiea, including the function of dials, the use of a Waver, and the dangers of the Upper Yard. However, under the threat of Enel's absolute judgment and death, she reluctantly complies with the law requiring her to turn in the Straw Hats as trespassers. She suffers immense guilt over this betrayal and eventually defies Enel by confessing the truth to Luffy and his crew. This act of conscience marks her initial development, transforming her from a fearful citizen into a defiant figure. Her courage grows as the arc progresses, culminating in her decision to warn all of Angel Island about Enel's plan to annihilate the country, risking her own life by publicly declaring that she does not recognize Enel as a god. When her father appears to be struck down by Enel's lightning, she continues her mission without him, demonstrating remarkable resilience. After Enel's defeat, she is reunited with her father, who survived the attack.
While not a combatant, Conis possesses several notable practical abilities. She is a skilled player of the harp, an instrument she is often seen playing on the beach. She is also proficient in operating a Waver, a type of personal watercraft that runs on dial energy, and she demonstrates knowledge of how to use various other dials and a Burn Bazooka. Her key relationships center on her father Pagaya, her devoted pet Su, and the Straw Hat pirates, whose unwavering trust and concern for her safety even when she admits her betrayal inspire her to become more courageous. Following the Skypiea arc and a two-year time skip, Conis has continued her development by co-founding and working at the Pumpkin Cafe, a business that has become famous for its signature pumpkin noodle dish.
