Description
Koro-sensei, a genetically modified octopus-like entity, serves as homeroom teacher for Kunugigaoka Junior High's Class 3-E. He claims responsibility for destroying 70% of the moon and threatens to annihilate Earth by March 13th the following year unless his students assassinate him first.

Born nameless in an unnamed, corrupt slum without knowledge of his parents, he endured constant betrayal, forging a philosophy that only skill, money, and death were reliable. This worldview shaped him into "The Reaper," a legendary assassin with over 1,000 kills. His methodology exploited opponents' weaknesses: outsmarting the strong, overpowering the intelligent, and charming the capable.

His downfall followed the assassination of a wealthy businessman, whose child witnessed the act and became his apprentice. Training the apprentice solely as a tool, devoid of genuine care, resulted in betrayal during a prison break. This led to The Reaper's capture by researcher Kotaro Yanagisawa. Subjected to experiments injecting organic antimatter into human cells, he gained supernatural abilities but also became a walking apocalypse risk. Imprisoned, he formed his first meaningful bond with Aguri Yukimura, Yanagisawa's abused wife and a teacher. She taught him compassion and the value of nurturing others.

A critical experiment involving an antimatter-infused lab rat caused the moon's destruction upon the rat's death. Calculations confirmed the same fate awaited The Reaper within a year, prompting Yanagisawa to order his execution. Warned by Aguri, he escaped using his newfound powers. During the breakout, Aguri was mortally wounded by a trip-mine meant for him. Her dying wish was for him to teach Class 3-E and protect its students. Honoring this, he adopted the identity "Koro-sensei" (a portmanteau of "unkillable" and "teacher") and took responsibility for the moon's destruction to justify becoming Class 3-E's teacher.

As a teacher, Koro-sensei blends eccentricity with profound empathy. His appearance features a yellow, bulbous head, beady eyes, and multiple tentacles used for mobility and manipulation. He wears a black academic gown and a tie with a crescent moon symbol—Aguri's final gift. His personality mixes lightheartedness (gossiping, sweet cravings, occasional lewdness) with intense protectiveness. He shifts readily from playful to menacing, especially when students endanger themselves or others, reflecting remnants of his "Reaper" persona.

Koro-sensei's abilities stem from antimatter integration: Mach 20 speed, regeneration, color-shifting skin for camouflage or emotional expression, superhuman senses, and enhanced intellect. He develops specialized techniques like "Absolute Defense Form" (an invulnerable spherical state), liquefaction, energy lasers, and explosive tentacle strikes. Despite his power, he possesses vulnerabilities, including specialized anti-sensei weapons and a weak point beneath his tie.

His teaching methodology centers on individualized growth, using assassination attempts as pedagogical tools to build students' skills and self-worth. He creates tailored curricula, invents advanced technologies like AI upgrades for the robot Ritsu, and provides emotional support. This approach fosters deep mutual respect, complicating the students' assassination mission.

In "Assassination Classroom the Movie: 365 Days' Time," adult Nagisa Shiota and Karma Akabane revisit their abandoned classroom seven years after graduation. Their reminiscences highlight Koro-sensei's enduring impact. Flashbacks depict his role in pivotal events: helping Nagisa recognize his assassination talents, aiding Karma's emotional maturity, and guiding Kaede Kayano through her vengeful rage against him for Aguri's death. The film underscores how his teachings shaped their adult lives, with the classroom preserved as a tribute to his legacy. During their visit, Nagisa writes "Until the day we meet you again" on the chalkboard, symbolizing their lasting connection.

Koro-sensei's character arc concludes with his intentional assassination by Nagisa during graduation. He accepts death peacefully, thanking Class 3-E for giving his life meaning. His final act involves distributing personalized yearbooks and life guides to each student, embodying his commitment to their futures beyond his destruction.
