Description
Tōru Miyagishi, a 23-year-old junior chef at the Kissuisō hot spring inn under head chef Renji Togashi, demonstrates notable culinary talent, recognized when the rival Fukuya Inn specifically requested him as a substitute chef. Professionally, he demands excellence, maintaining a harsh and often verbally abrasive demeanor, particularly towards his apprentice, Minko Tsurugi. This harsh approach originated from his decision to accept Minko as his apprentice, which inspired her culinary career path and led to her developing unreciprocated romantic feelings for him.

Outspoken and prone to frustration, Miyagishi nonetheless shows deep dedication to his craft. He initially intimidated Ohana Matsumae through teasing, causing her dislike, but their relationship matured into professional camaraderie. He developed an interest in Ohana, partly because she openly sought his help during Kissuisō's operational crises, though he clarified this interest was not romantic.

Miyagishi's own career inspiration came from a cooking manga by Tarō Jirōmaru, a recurring Kissuisō guest, mirroring Minko's motivation. In the series finale, he supported Minko's professional advancement by helping persuade the owner of a restaurant where she sought employment. The film "Home Sweet Home" offers no further character insights. His development centers on his professional rigor and evolving relationships with the inn staff, including his indirect mentorship role.
