Description
Kakashi Hatake's character development unfolds throughout the Naruto series and its films, including *Naruto Shippuden the Movie: The Lost Tower*. Early tragedy shaped his life, beginning with his mother's death in his youth. Raised by his father, the renowned shinobi Sakumo Hatake, known as "Konoha's White Fang," Kakashi was profoundly affected when Sakumo committed suicide after village ostracization for a failed mission. This led Kakashi to rigidly adhere to shinobi rules, prioritizing mission success above comrades.

A child prodigy, Kakashi graduated the Academy at five, became a chūnin at six, and achieved jōnin status by twelve. Serving under Minato Namikaze during the Third Shinobi World War alongside Obito Uchiha and Rin Nohara, a pivotal mission to destroy Kannabi Bridge occurred when Rin was captured. Initially choosing mission completion over rescue, citing his father's downfall, Kakashi relented after Obito challenged him, calling Sakumo a hero for valuing comrades. During the rescue, Kakashi lost his left eye shielding Obito, who awakened his Sharingan and killed their attacker. Crushed in a subsequent cave-in, Obito donated his remaining Sharingan eye to Kakashi as a gift before dying, earning Kakashi the epithets "Kakashi of the Sharingan" and "Copy Ninja."

Shortly after, Rin, captured again with the Three-Tails sealed inside her, intentionally died by Kakashi’s Chidori to prevent its release in Konoha. The trauma activated his Mangekyō Sharingan, though he remained unaware of this evolution until much later. These losses instilled deep survivor’s guilt, manifesting in daily visits to Obito’s memorial and habitual tardiness – a trait adopted from Obito. His philosophy shifted towards prioritizing teamwork, exemplified by testing Team 7 with the bell exercise to teach cooperation over blind rule-following.

In *The Lost Tower*, Kakashi participates in a past mission led by Minato to stop Anrokuzan in the ancient city of Loran. He assists Minato, Shibi Aburame, and Chōza Akimichi in supporting Naruto and Queen Sāra during a time-travel incident, though his role is peripheral.

During Pain’s assault on Konoha, Kakashi died protecting the village. In the afterlife, he reconciled with his father, expressing pride in Sakumo’s choices. Revived later, he confronted his former student Sasuke Uchiha after Sasuke's descent into darkness. Prepared to kill Sasuke as his teacher’s duty, Naruto ultimately intervened. Commanding the Allied Shinobi Forces’ Third Division in the Fourth Shinobi War, Kakashi battled reanimated foes and unmasked "Tobi" as Obito, revealed to have survived and orchestrated much of the conflict. Their intense duel within Kamui’s dimension was laden with shared memories and ideological conflict over Obito’s nihilism. Temporarily gaining dual Mangekyō Sharingan and Six Paths chakra from Obito, Kakashi manifested a perfect Susano’o to aid Team 7 against Kaguya Ōtsutsuki.

Post-war, Kakashi served as Sixth Hokage, overseeing Konoha’s reconstruction and technological advancement before retiring. His legacy endured through his students, particularly Naruto, whom he acknowledged as his superior for uniting others.
