Description
Mizuki Takase is a central character in the Comic Party series, introduced as a childhood friend of the protagonist, Kazuki Sendō, having known him since junior high school. The two eventually attend the same college together. An energetic and athletic young woman, Mizuki stands 160 cm tall with long red hair typically tied in a side ponytail and blue eyes. Her attitude toward the otaku subculture and the world of dōjinshi (self-published fan comics) is initially marked by hostility and skepticism. She has never cared for anime or manga, dismissing them as pursuits for dorks, and her first experience at a fan comic convention only reinforces her disdain. When Kazuki becomes deeply involved in creating and selling dōjinshi at the Comic Party conventions, Mizuki openly opposes his new activity, attempting to steer him back toward academics and more conventional pastimes. However, she is not entirely one-dimensional; her feelings are conflicted. She observes the genuine satisfaction Kazuki derives from the creative process and worries that his growing commitment to dōjinshi leaves less time for their relationship. Despite her objections, Mizuki tries to help Kazuki focus on his studies, but his attention remains fixed on his comics, causing her to feel as though the hobby is driving them apart. Throughout the series, Mizuki’s role is that of a grounding presence and a source of emotional tension, as she must reconcile her initial prejudice with her care for Kazuki and his happiness. Her development involves gradually confronting her biases and learning to accept a part of Kazuki’s life she initially rejected. Her notable traits include her athletic energy, her stubbornness, and her loyalty, which ultimately underpin her growth as a character.
