OVA
Description
Kiba Inuzuka belongs to Konohagakure's Inuzuka clan, famed for their symbiotic bonds with ninken. He grew up primarily under his mother Tsume Inuzuka, the clan's resolute leader, after his father departed due to Tsume's intimidating personality. His older sister, Hana Inuzuka, works as a veterinarian. Tsume gifted Kiba his ninken partner Akamaru at a young age; through shared training and companionship, they forged an inseparable brotherly bond.
During his Academy years, Kiba frequently skipped classes with Akamaru, Naruto Uzumaki, Shikamaru Nara, and Chōji Akimichi, deeming desk work unfit for his energetic nature. This group often tested instructor Iruka Umino's patience. Kiba initially viewed Naruto as incompetent after witnessing failed Transformation Technique attempts, joining others in ridiculing him.
Kiba exhibits a short-tempered, impulsive, and competitive personality, contrasting with his calmer Team 8 teammates Shino Aburame and Hinata Hyūga. He often self-appoints as team leader and takes offense when his authority is challenged, particularly by Shino during strategy disagreements. Despite his gruff exterior, Kiba shows fierce loyalty to his clan and deep care for comrades. He maintains a protective, brotherly relationship with Hinata, encouraging her strength while teasing her about her affection for Naruto. He respects his sensei Kurenai Yūhi and shares a playful dynamic with her daughter Mirai, who humorously confuses his name with Akamaru's.
Physically, Kiba displays canine-like traits: messy brown hair, vertical slit pupils, pronounced canine teeth, retractable claws, and distinctive red fang markings on his cheeks. In Part I, he wore a grey hooded fur-lined jacket, dark pants, and a blue forehead protector. Post-timeskip in Part II, his attire shifted entirely to black, including a fitted leather jacket with zippers, net shirt, trousers, sandals, and forehead protector. As an adult, he sports a goatee, longer hair, and wears the standard Konoha flak jacket under an open fur coat, grey pants, black fingerless gloves, and modified sandals, no longer wearing his forehead protector.
As an Inuzuka clansman, Kiba possesses an enhanced sense of smell, amplified by channeling chakra through his nose to detect scents over vast distances, identify individuals, or locate traps, making him invaluable for tracking and reconnaissance. His combat style relies on taijutsu and coordinated techniques with Akamaru, utilizing hit-and-run tactics enhanced by the Four Legs Technique, which boosts his speed, strength, reflexes, and acrobatic agility while granting bestial physical traits. Key combination techniques include:
- Man Beast Clone: Transforming Akamaru into Kiba's duplicate for coordinated attacks.
- Fang Over Fang: A spinning drill-like assault executed alone or with Akamaru.
- Dynamic Marking: Using Akamaru's urine to mark targets for scent tracking.
- Human Beast Combination Transformation: Double-Headed Wolf: Merging with Akamaru into a two-headed wolf for the powerful Wolf Fang Over Fang technique. During the Fourth Shinobi World War, he developed Super Wolf Fang Over Fang, capable of piercing three Rashōmon gates.
Kiba participated in the Chūnin Exams alongside Hinata and Shino. During the preliminary matches, he fought Naruto, initially dominating through superior speed and coordination with Akamaru. However, Naruto exploited Kiba's enhanced senses by flatulating in his face, disorienting him before defeating him with the Uzumaki Barrage. After regaining consciousness, Kiba advised Hinata to forfeit if matched against Gaara or Neji Hyūga, showing concern for her safety. Later, Kabuto Yakushi rendered him unconscious before Konoha's invasion.
During the Sasuke Retrieval Mission, Kiba joined Shikamaru's team for his tracking skills. He battled Sakon and Ukon of the Sound Four, enduring their curse mark transformations and parasitic fusion ability. To counter them, Kiba used the Double-Headed Wolf transformation and Wolf Fang Over Fang. When Ukon fused with his body, Kiba stabbed himself to inflict shared pain, forcing Ukon out before Sand ninja Kankurō intervened to defeat the twins.
In Part II, Kiba continued serving on Team 8 for tracking missions, including the search for Sasuke Uchiha and combating Akatsuki members. He participated in Konoha's defense during Pain's assault, aiding civilian evacuations. During the Fourth Shinobi World War, he fought White Zetsu clones and the Ten-Tails' forces. He expressed ambitions to become Hokage during the war, believing battlefield valor would advance his candidacy. His Infinite Tsukuyomi dream depicted him as Hokage establishing a national holiday for dogs.
Post-war, Kiba achieved chūnin rank and joined the Konoha Military Police Force as an investigator. He also became a renowned dog breeder. He attended Naruto and Hinata's wedding, collaborating with Shino and Akamaru to find them a special gift as "Team 8's final mission." In later years, he maintained his partnership with the aging Akamaru while adopting a more relaxed demeanor, though he retained his energetic spirit.
