Description
Born May 3, 1987, in Nibelheim, Tifa Lockhart lost her mother at age eight. Grief-stricken, she climbed Mt. Nibel believing her mother waited there. Childhood neighbor Cloud Strife followed to protect her but couldn't stop her fall from a collapsing bridge. Tifa suffered severe injuries and a seven-day coma; her father blamed Cloud and forbade their contact.
Years later, Cloud shared his ambition to join SOLDIER with Tifa at Nibelheim's water tower. Tifa secured his promise to rescue her if she ever faced danger. He left for Midgar the next spring but failed to become a SOLDIER, joining the Shinra infantry instead. Tifa scanned newspapers and questioned visiting Shinra personnel for news of him.
At fifteen, Tifa worked as a mountain guide while training in Zangan-style martial arts. She led a Shinra expedition, including SOLDIER operatives Sephiroth and Zack Fair, to a malfunctioning mako reactor on Mt. Nibel. Unbeknownst to her, Cloud was present as an infantry guard, hiding his identity due to shame over his failure.
