Description
Kazuhiko Sugihara, a former yakuza member and ex-high school boxer with a signature yakuza perm, is forcibly transitioned into Chika Sugihara to infiltrate the idol group Gokudols. As the group’s youngest member, Chika adopts a hyper-cute persona marked by exaggerated idol mannerisms, clashing with residual yakuza traits like gruff speech, creating internal strife. A past romantic betrayal—witnessing his girlfriend’s infidelity at a Gokudols concert—fuels Chika’s conflicted identity.
Fan adoration escalates group tensions, particularly when gifts labeled “cute” provoke jealousy from Mari. Familial reconciliation emerges as Chika’s initially disapproving father gradually accepts her new identity. In the live-action adaptation, Chika navigates a complex bond with Kimura, a former yakuza subordinate turned devoted fan, whose obsession tests their relationship. During a clash with antagonist Seiji Koizumi, Chika survives a gunshot through a concealed kevlar bra, later defiantly performing at the J-Pop Summit to cement her idol persona.
Interactions with figures like Inugane, a rigid yakuza boss, and Yui Nakamura, an earnest trainee, highlight the friction between Chika’s criminal history and performative idol life. Her arc intertwines survival instincts, loyalty to conflicting worlds, and the uneasy coexistence of enforced femininity with enduring underworld grit.
