Description
Kamek serves as a loyal advisor and secondary antagonist to Bowser, the King of the Koopas. A Magikoopa gifted with magical abilities, he is defined by his unwavering devotion to his master.

He acts as both an advisor and a father figure to Bowser, displaying a capacity for sadism and taking visible pleasure in acts like the destruction of the Penguin Kingdom and the torture of other characters. His relationship with Bowser is unique, marked by personal moments and rare displays of vulnerability from the king.

Kamek wears round spectacles, blue robes, and a blue wizard’s hat with a white brim. He is never without his golden scepter, topped with a red jewel, and often rides a magical broomstick.

He first appears assisting Bowser during the invasion of the Penguin Kingdom, using his magic to clear obstacles and secure the Super Star. He later interrupts Bowser’s musical rehearsal to report the arrival of a mustachioed human, resulting in Bowser slamming a piano lid on his hands. Kamek levitates and presents the captured Luigi for interrogation and participates in a rehearsal for Bowser’s marriage proposal by impersonating Princess Peach. When Peach rejects the proposal, he is ordered to torture Toad, forcing her reluctant agreement. He announces to the prisoners in Bowser’s dungeon that they will be sacrificed at the wedding. During the ceremony, he serves as the officiant but is quickly knocked unconscious by Princess Peach. He awakens in Brooklyn, where he is seen guarding the Super Star before being defeated.

His magical abilities, channeled through his wand, include levitation, flight on his broomstick, teleportation via purple smoke, and mystic telekinesis that manipulates objects and people surrounded by a purple aura. He also uses a specific crushing spell to torture Toad. A notable weakness is his physical fragility, evident when easily injured by Bowser or knocked out by Princess Peach.

In other media, Kamek first appeared in *Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island* as a primary antagonist alongside Baby Bowser. There, he attacks the stork delivering the Mario brothers, successfully kidnapping Baby Luigi but missing Baby Mario. He frequently uses his magic to enlarge bosses and engages in direct combat with Yoshi. This role as Baby Bowser’s caretaker and primary antagonist continues in games like *Yoshi's Island DS*, *Yoshi's New Island*, and *Yoshi's Woolly World*, where he often empowers enemies and creates obstacles.

His magical capabilities are shown to be more advanced than those of a typical Magikoopa, including pyrokinesis, summoning enemies, creating clones, and possessing psychic powers like divination and precognition, sometimes using a crystal ball. He has also demonstrated skill in mechanics, such as building a time travel device.

His broader personality is academic and knowledgeable, often associated with libraries and games. He displays a polite, sometimes sarcastic demeanor that can become condescending or falsely polite. Some media hint at a feminine side, noting his appreciation for Princess Peach’s dress and his use of feminine pronouns in certain Japanese versions, though this is not consistent across all appearances.
