Description
Kyoya Tategami led the Face Hunters, a group notorious for ambushing weaker bladers to seize beypoints within Metal Bey City. His formidable reputation arose from consistent victories using Rock Leone, establishing him as a feared combatant. This era highlighted his initial arrogance and singular focus on combat prowess, often dismissing opponents he considered unworthy. After defeating Benkei Hanawa decisively multiple times, Benkei declared Kyoya his hero and established the Face Hunters under his leadership.

Gingka Hagane's arrival dramatically shifted Kyoya's path. Witnessing Gingka defeat numerous Face Hunters members effortlessly prompted Kyoya to challenge him atop Metal Tower. Despite environmental factors favoring Rock Leone, Gingka won, igniting Kyoya's enduring rivalry and primary objective: defeating Gingka. This loss spurred intense, frustrating training and a brief alliance with the manipulative Doji and the Dark Nebula. Under Doji's influence, Kyoya adopted a colder, more ruthless approach, engaging in near-destructive battles against beys like Dark Bull and Flame Sagittario. This alliance dissolved after a second defeat by Gingka, leading Kyoya to disband the Face Hunters and operate alone.

Following his separation from Doji, Kyoya's personality evolved. While retaining his competitive drive and skepticism, he displayed increased maturity and a budding sense of responsibility. A pivotal moment occurred when Rock Leone's performance tip cracked during a survival battle; Kyoya withdrew from a match against Yu Tendo to protect his bey, signaling newfound care for his equipment. He maintained a complex friendship with Benkei, frequently expressing annoyance at Benkei's attempts at closeness yet acknowledging his loyalty. Kyoya later captained Team Wild Fang, representing Africa in the Big Bang Bladers World Championships alongside Nile, Demoure, and Benkei. The team achieved an undefeated record in initial tournament rounds, reflecting Kyoya's strategic skill and leadership.

Kyoya's rivalry extended beyond Gingka to include Ryuga. Their two documented battles ended in Ryuga's favor, with Ryuga acknowledging Kyoya's strength while considering him inferior to Gingka. Kyoya harbored jealousy towards Ryuga for defeating Gingka, a feat he himself had not accomplished. However, this animosity transformed into respect following Ryuga's self-sacrifice. Kyoya's role expanded significantly during the conflict against Nemesis in Metal Fury. Recognized as the Legendary Blader representing Spring, he joined Gingka and others on a global mission to prevent Nemesis from dominating the world. His bey evolved into Fang Leone 130W2D, empowered by a fragment of the Star Fragment. During this quest, interactions with figures like Tithi and Aguma tested his resolve, particularly when Aguma's taunts about being "Gingka's dog" led Kyoya to temporarily abandon the group, causing Benkei distress.

Physically, Kyoya possesses a tall, muscular build, tanned skin, spiky dark green hair tied in a shoulder-length ponytail, sharp blue eyes, and symmetrical X-shaped scars on his cheeks. His lion-like appearance is accentuated by prominent fangs. His attire evolved: in Metal Fusion and Metal Masters, he wore a sleeveless army-green coat over a tattered black shirt exposing his abdomen, beige cargo pants, brown fingerless gloves, boots, and a round pendant. Metal Fury introduced a sleeveless black jacket over a cropped green tank top, light grey pants tucked into brown boots, and a fang pendant necklace.

Kyoya appeared in the film "Metal Fight Beyblade vs the Sun: Sol Blaze, the Scorching Hot Invader," intervening decisively against Bakin. Using Rock Leone, he defeated Bakin's Dark Poseidon, enabling Gingka and Helios to launch their beys into space to destroy the threatening meteoroid Adonis. This action highlighted his capacity for cooperation against greater threats despite his fierce independence. Throughout his journey, Kyoya consistently prioritized self-reliance and the pursuit of personal strength, often challenging allies like the Legendary Bladers not out of concern for the world's fate, but to prove his own power. His character arc progressed from an isolated antagonist to a crucial, though fiercely independent, ally within the broader blader community.
