Description
Gowther's origins trace back over 3,000 years. Initially a powerful demon mage, he was forcibly bestowed the Commandment of Selflessness by the Demon King. His pacifist refusal to fight in the Holy War led to 500 years of imprisonment. During confinement, he crafted a male-form doll resembling his deceased lover Glariza, modified to avoid attraction, serving as his connection to the outside world.
This doll gained sentience when the original Gowther severed their mental link during the Holy War's climax. Seeking to end the conflict, they collaborated on a forbidden memory-altering spell targeting the Archangel Mael. They rewrote Mael's identity into "Estarossa," a fabricated son of the Demon King, manipulating all related memories—including those of the Demon King and Supreme Deity. This act consumed the original Gowther's life force, causing his death shortly after. The autonomous doll, gifted with an artificial heart, fled the war.
Millennia later, the doll resurfaced in Liones Castle's dungeon, discovered by Princess Nadja Liones. They formed a deep bond, with Gowther serving as her maid and companion. Terminally ill, Nadja spent her final days with him. Upon her death, Gowther attempted to save her by implanting his artificial heart. This failed, and he was falsely accused of causing her death through "vile acts," leading to his branding as the Goat's Sin of Lust. Overwhelmed by grief, he erased his own memories and emotions.
As a member of the Seven Deadly Sins, Gowther exhibited an emotionless, detached personality, speaking in a monotone and struggling to comprehend social cues or friendships. Curiosity about human emotions drove him to observe others and experiment with his powers, such as brainwashing Guila to simulate love. He often used poses during introductions or missions, a residual habit from his earlier playful self. Despite his title representing Lust, his actions stemmed from a desire for emotional understanding.
Physically, the doll Gowther appears as a young male with amber eyes, pink hair, and essential glasses. He typically wears a gray long-sleeved shirt under a white sleeveless top. He once disguised himself in enchanted armor (depicted on his wanted poster) or as "Armando," a flustered caretaker for a village boy named Pelliot. His core ability is "Invasion," enabling memory manipulation, illusion creation, and mind control, often channeled through his Sacred Treasure, the Twin Bow Herritt. As a doll, he can reattach severed limbs and lacks biological needs.
Gowther's development culminated in regaining his erased memories and emotions. This reintegration blended his past emotional vulnerability with his factual speech patterns, resulting in greater social awareness, occasional excitability, and a conscious effort toward kindness. He retained aloofness but formed stronger bonds with fellow Sins, fulfilling his creator's wish to "see, hear, and feel" independently.
