Description
Brook is a living skeleton musician of the Straw Hat Pirates, revived by the Yomi Yomi no Mi Devil Fruit. His body decomposed to bones during the year his soul wandered the Florian Triangle’s fog, leaving only his afro intact due to "strong roots".

Fifty years prior, he served as battle convoy leader for an unspecified West Blue kingdom, learning swordsmanship there. Brook later joined the Rumbar Pirates as musician and swordsman. The crew befriended the infant whale Laboon in the Florian Triangle, with Brook forming a close bond through his music and afro. Leaving Laboon with Crocus at Reverse Mountain, they promised to return after sailing the Grand Line. Following Captain Yorki’s departure with ill crewmates, Brook assumed command. The remaining Rumbar Pirates were poisoned to death by enemy pirates in the Florian Triangle. Their final song for Laboon was recorded on a Tone Dial, which Brook vowed to deliver.

Revived through his Devil Fruit, Brook endured 50 years of isolation aboard his decaying ship. He occupied himself with music, skeletal humor, and futile social attempts, developing eccentric mannerisms. Five years pre-Straw Hats, Gecko Moria stole his shadow and implanted it into zombie Ryuma, forcing Brook to avoid sunlight to prevent disintegration.

He encountered the Straw Hats in the Florian Triangle. After Luffy reclaimed his shadow by defeating Moria, Brook joined as musician to fulfill his promise to Laboon. Post-timeskip, he gained global fame as "Soul King" Brook and honed his Devil Fruit powers.

Brook maintains a gentlemanly demeanor yet exhibits poor etiquette—flatulence, food impatience, and frequent requests to see women’s underwear. He copes with trauma through relentless skeleton puns and a distinctive "Yohohoho" laugh. Despite comedic traits, he values life deeply, honors promises, and protects allies unflinchingly. He fears supernatural entities despite being undead, singing during combat to suppress fear.

His Devil Fruit enables soul manipulation: leaving his body, affecting others’ souls, and incapacitating homies. His lightweight skeleton permits high-speed movement and water-running. As a fencer, he employs quick-draw techniques with a shikomizue cane sword. Musical prowess allows him to induce sleep or project soul energy through instruments. He claims milk heals his bone fractures and utilizes his skull for storage. His bounty rose from 33,000,000 berries (Rumbar era) to 383,000,000 berries post-Wano Country.

Pre-death, Brook was a tall, slender man with a goatee, sunglasses, and an omega-shaped forehead scar retained as a skull crack. Post-resurrection, he wears formal attire—tattered tailcoat, top hat, and trousers. Post-timeskip outfits reflect his "Soul King" persona: vibrant colors, feather boas, and heart-shaped sunglasses. In Wano Country, he adopted samurai armor and later Viking-inspired gear in Elbaph.
