Daniele Demma was an Italian voice actor, dubbing director, and writer, recognized for his extensive contributions to the Italian-language versions of numerous anime series and video games.
Born in Cosenza, Italy, on August 22, 1957, Demma graduated as an actor from the Civica Scuola d'Arte Drammatica del Piccolo Teatro di Milano in 1978. He spent the following years performing in theatrical productions with various companies before transitioning into voice acting in 1986. His career in dubbing was primarily based in Milan, where he worked with studios such as Merak Film, S.E.D.E., and Studio P.V.. Beyond performance, Demma also lent his expertise as an ADR director and dialogue writer, contributing to the Italian adaptations of series like "Patlabor" and "Chrono Crusade".
Among his most celebrated anime roles was providing the first Italian voice for the skeletal musician Brook in the long-running series "One Piece," a role he held until episode 578. He also voiced the character in the 2011 film "One Piece 3D: Mugiwara Chase". His other prominent anime work included Kururu in "Sgt. Frog" (also known as "Keroro") and Johann Faust VIII in the original "Shaman King" series. His repertoire extended to a wide array of other series, with roles such as Uryu Ishida in "Bleach," Dosu Kinuta in "Naruto," Starscream in "Transformers: Animated," and characters in the "Dragon Ball" franchise.
Demma's talent was not confined to anime. He was a prolific voice in Western animation and live-action dubbing, as well as a highly sought-after voice for video games. He was the official Italian voice of the Riddler in various "Batman" animated series and video games, including the acclaimed "Batman: Arkham" series. He also voiced Daxter in the "Jak and Daxter" video game series and took on roles in major titles such as "God of War III," "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune," and "Fallout 4". In Italian television, he was a familiar voice to younger audiences as Ambrose, a puppet character on the long-running children's program "Bim Bum Bam". Daniele Demma passed away in Milan on November 6, 2017, at the age of 60.
