Description
Izuku Midoriya, known as Deku, was born Quirkless in a superhuman society and endured bullying from childhood friend Katsuki Bakugo, who mockingly nicknamed him "Deku." Despite this, he idolized the hero All Might and dreamed of becoming a hero himself. His chance came when he rushed to save Bakugo from a villain, impressing All Might. After ten months of intense training, he inherited the transferable Quirk, One For All.
Initially, One For All's overwhelming power caused him severe self-injury. Over time, he gained control and unlocked additional Quirks within it: Blackwhip, Danger Sense, Float, Fa Jin, and Smokescreen. During the Paranormal Liberation War, he left U.A. High to protect his classmates from Tomura Shigaraki and All For One, who targeted his Quirk. He later returned, encouraged by his peers, and led the heroes in the Final War. He defeated Shigaraki and All For One but permanently lost One For All, reverting to Quirklessness.
In the events of "My Hero Academia: You're Next," set between the Dark Hero Arc and Final War, he wore "Costume Zeta": a dark green jumpsuit with gold outlines, Mid-Gauntlets, Air Force Gloves, and Gran Torino's cape worn as a scarf, missing his signature iron soles. As part of Class 1-A's efforts to stabilize post-war Japan, he led a team tracking escaped villains. During a mission in Niigata, he encountered Anna Scervino, whose Quirk "Overmodification" enhanced others' abilities. Touching her caused him convulsive pain due to incompatibility.
He confronted Valdo, leader of the Gollini crime family. Valdo resembled All Might and had twisted All Might's "You're Next" message to become "Dark Might." After Valdo used Anna's Quirk to transform a yacht into a massive fortress that consumed cities and trapped Class 1-A, Izuku was separated. His Quirks malfunctioned inside the fortress. He allied with Giulio Gandini, Anna's caretaker seeking to neutralize her Quirk. They navigated the fortress's biomes, defeating Paulo Gollini, whose Quirk caused temporary erasure.
Trapped under Deborah Gollini's "Day Dream" Quirk, he was freed by the vestiges of One For All residing within him. He later helped Giulio break the Quirk's control over others. Learning of Anna's impending Quirk Singularity and Giulio's vow to euthanize her if necessary, Izuku resolved to save her non-lethally. In the climax, alongside Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki, he battled Dark Might, who mimicked All Might's fighting style. Izuku unleashed a new ultimate technique combining multiple Smash attacks, named after several American states, surpassing his "United World of Smash." This destroyed the fortress. Giulio then overloaded Anna's Quirk via compatibility, rendering her Quirkless and resolving the crisis.
