ONA
Description
Mars is a high-ranking commander of Team Galactic, a criminal organization from the Sinnoh region that first appeared in the anime series set in that era. In Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles, she returns alongside her fellow commanders Saturn and Jupiter as a supporting antagonist. Her background is rooted in her unwavering loyalty to Team Galactic’s leader, Cyrus, and her role as one of his most trusted subordinates.

Personality-wise, Mars is determined and aggressive, often taking a direct approach to achieving Team Galactic’s goals. She is fiercely devoted to Cyrus and the organization’s mission, displaying little hesitation in carrying out schemes that threaten the safety of others. Her motivations stem from her dedication to Cyrus’s vision, which in the past involved using legendary Pokémon to reshape the world. In The Arceus Chronicles, her primary objective is to assist in the plot to capture and control the Legendary Pokémon Heatran as a means to communicate with Arceus, the Alpha Pokémon, in a continued attempt to further Team Galactic’s ambitions.

Within the story, Mars acts as an antagonist alongside the other commanders, working to secure Heatran and later attempting to confront Arceus directly. She plays a key part in the conflict that draws Ash, Goh, and Dawn into investigating the disturbance at Mount Tengan. Her role in the narrative is to provide opposition and to highlight Team Galactic’s return after their organization was thought to be dismantled.

Mars has a close working relationship with her fellow commanders, particularly Saturn and Jupiter, and all three answer directly to Cyrus. Their dynamic is one of shared purpose, though each commander has their own distinct personality. Mars is often the more hotheaded of the trio, while Saturn is more calculating and Jupiter more aloof. There is no significant character development for Mars within this special; she remains steadfast in her allegiance to Cyrus and does not undergo a change of heart.

In terms of abilities, Mars is a competent Pokémon trainer, capable of holding her own in battle against experienced opponents. She commands Pokémon that reflect her forceful personality, such as her signature Pokémon Purugly, and employs aggressive battle strategies. Her actions in The Arceus Chronicles demonstrate her willingness to use both her Pokémon and technological devices to further Team Galactic’s schemes.
