Description
Born December 24, 2179, Yuki Mori is the daughter of Naoyuki Mori, a Japanese undersecretary for foreign affairs. The outbreak of the Great Garmillas War in 2191, when she was 11, orphaned her. She then entered the guardianship of family friend Admiral Ryu Hijikata, whom she called "Uncle Hijikata."

Enlisting in the United Nations Cosmo Force on April 1, 2198, Mori was assigned as an aide to Princess Yurisha Iscandar in the Far-East District Staff Office's Strategic Department 9th Section, placing her within Program Yamato's development. She and Yurisha survived a car crash in an Earth underground city, later suspected as a terrorist bombing. Mori suffered amnesia from the incident, erasing specific memories predating the attack. Outside her military duties, she taught young children.

Appointed a full lieutenant and operations officer for the Yamato's February 2199 mission to Iscandar, Mori managed radar, information, and electronics. Her early interactions with tactics officer Susumu Kodai were hostile. Captured by a Garmillas automaton during a landing party mission to Saturn's moon Enceladus and subsequently rescued by Kodai, their relationship softened. This evolved from professional tension to mutual empathy and romantic feelings as they shared personal traumas—Kodai's loss of his family and Mori's amnesia—during Yamato's departure from the solar system.

Mori's connection to Iscandar proved strategically significant during the Gatlantis Campaign when she played a key role in Yamato's revolt and journey to planet Telezart. By 2205, she accepted promotion to lieutenant commander second class and command of the supply carrier Asuka, described as a "triple jump" in responsibility. Leading peace missions to the Salezar system, her ship employed barrier rounds and active resonance waves to protect allies. Her engagement to Susumu Kodai was noted during this time.

In the continuity of "Be Forever Yamato," Mori assumed temporary command of the destroyer Yukikaze during a critical mission while Kodai was imprisoned by Earth authorities, demonstrating her capacity for independent leadership under duress. Her command decisions here aligned with her later portrayal as Asuka captain, where her protective capabilities extended beyond individual relationships to tactical ship operations.

Mori's live-action film portrayal diverges significantly, depicting her as a fighter pilot instead of a radar operator or nurse, placing it outside the main anime continuity. Across official media, her trajectory progresses from an officer with localized duties to a commanding figure in interstellar diplomacy and military operations, consistently linked to themes of protection and resilience.
