Description
Wiz, formerly a human adventurer dubbed the Ice Witch, was feared for her ruthless efficiency as an archwizard opposing the Devil King’s forces. Her legendary party—Brad, Rosary, Karen, and Yukinori—relentlessly hunted the Devil King’s generals until a mission against the Dullahan Beldia cursed them with a fatal prophecy: one month to live. Desperation drove Wiz to bargain with the devil Vanir, who rejected her soul offer and instead taught her a forbidden ritual to become a lich, exchanging her humanity for immortality.
Transformed, Wiz launched a solo assault on the Devil King’s stronghold, toppling generals Hans and Sylvia before compelling Beldia to revoke the curse. She later joined the Devil King’s Army under a neutrality pact, safeguarding noncombatants while maintaining the castle’s defenses. Departing the army, she established a magic item shop in Axel, intending it as a reunion site for her scattered comrades.
Lichedom reshaped Wiz’s personality: once fiery and competitive, she became meek, conflict-averse, and prone to over-apologizing, embracing pacifism unless innocents were endangered. Chronic debt plagued her due to poor business judgment, impulsively acquiring defective or obscure inventory. Yet she persisted optimistically, surviving on minimal sustenance while aiding others, such as guiding lost souls in Axel’s cemetery.
Her lich powers grant immortality, immunity to non-magical attacks, and expertise in ice magic, necromancy, and curses. Notable abilities include HP/MP-draining Touch, daily Explosion Magic without exhaustion, instant-freezing Cursed Crystal Prison, and Teleportation Magic linking Axel’s entrance and Crimson Demon Village.
Relationships balance respect and friction. Vanir, her sardonic mentor-turned-ally, mocks her mercantile failures. Kazuma shields her from Aqua’s purification attempts, recognizing her kindness, while Aqua’s hostility mellows to reluctant camaraderie. Beldia harassed her during their Devil King service, deepening her discomfort in the role.
Key contributions include teleporting the Destroyer’s core to avert catastrophe and mediating undead conflicts like the vampire Wolfgang’s uprising. Her shop intermittently hosts interdimensional interactions, reinforcing her humble yet magically potent role across realms.
Despite her undead state, Wiz clings to human identity, refusing to harm civilians and bristling at age remarks by declaring herself “eternally 20.” Her enduring compassion, self-sacrifice, and comedic entrepreneurial woes cement her as a gentle yet formidable paradox within the world’s conflicts.
