Description
Masahiro Hashimoto leads as the percussion instructor for Kitauji High School’s concert band, recruited by his college friend Noboru Taki to bolster the ensemble’s national competition preparations. A Kitauji alumnus himself, Hashimoto connects effortlessly with students through humor and approachability, regaling them with playful stories of Taki’s past—such as a heated ramen broth debate during their university days.

Boasting an athletic build and a quick wit, his infectious charm endears him to students, contrasting Taki’s reserved demeanor. Their banter-filled camaraderie reflects years of mutual respect and shared mischief, with Taki often cast as the more polished counterpart. A rift emerged when Taki withdrew after his wife’s passing, but Hashimoto’s relief at their reunion underscored their enduring bond.

Beyond refining percussion techniques, Hashimoto softens Taki’s authoritative image, revealing the director’s warmer layers to students. This dynamic positions him as a relatable mentor who bridges formal discipline with personal growth. Though his personal history remains largely unspoken, his loyalty to Taki and dedication to nurturing the band’s camaraderie highlight his role as both collaborator and confidant.
