During the race, he chooses the forest route, advancing with Sanji, Setsuno, and Gohan. Confronted by a Manpukuhihi beast blocking their path, Komatsu heeds Setsuno's advice to satisfy its hunger rather than fight. He collaborates with Sanji to prepare multiple plates of food, successfully appeasing the creature and securing safe passage for the group.

Following Mr. Satan's declaration as tournament winner after the arena-destroying battle between Goku, Luffy, and Toriko, Komatsu attends the celebratory meal where the prize meat is shared. At this banquet, he witnesses IGO Director Mansam reveal the tournament's true objective: to lure the energy-draining sea creature Akami. Komatsu remains present during Akami's attack and its subsequent defeat by the combined efforts of Goku, Luffy, and Toriko. He partakes in the final banquet consuming Akami, expressing visible skepticism alongside Nami regarding the contrived nature of Mr. Satan's unlikely tournament victory.
