Satoru Gojo, heir to the prestigious Gojo Clan, stands as the first sorcerer in four centuries to wield both the Limitless technique and the Six Eyes. His very birth shattered the world's balance, amplifying curses and painting a target on his back from infancy. As a child, he uniquely sensed the approach of Toji Fushiguro—a feat no other managed, thanks to Toji's Heavenly Restriction leaving him devoid of cursed energy.
Attending Tokyo Jujutsu High, Gojo formed an unparalleled duo with his closest friend, Suguru Geto, earning the title "strongest." Their second-year mission to protect the Star Plasma Vessel, Riko Amanai, destined to merge with Tengen, ended in catastrophe. The mercenary Toji Fushiguro ambushed them, killing Riko and mortally wounding Gojo. Facing death, Gojo awakened the Reverse Cursed Technique, healed himself, and ascended to new power, subsequently killing Toji. This trauma deeply scarred both students: Geto descended into darkness, eventually defecting after massacring a village, while Gojo developed compassion for non-sorcerers, a stark shift from his prior apathy. He retrieved Riko's body and contemplated killing her celebrating cultists, halted only by Geto.
Years later, when Geto declared war on jujutsu society, Gojo confronted him in Shinjuku but couldn't deliver the killing blow, letting his best friend escape. Gojo later intervened in Megumi Fushiguro's fate, stopping Toji from selling him to the Zenin clan and becoming his guardian. He supported Megumi and his sister Tsumiki financially and occasionally took Megumi on missions. During one such mission, Megumi rescued Hana Kurusu; Gojo playfully suggested she might develop feelings for him.
Driven by a vision to reform the jujutsu world through education, Gojo became a teacher at Jujutsu High. He aimed to nurture a new generation of powerful, independent sorcerers—like Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Yuta Okkotsu—believing this would create lasting change. He spared Yuji from execution after Yuji consumed Sukuna's finger, proposing the sentence be delayed until Yuji absorbed all twenty. Similarly, he recruited Yuta Okkotsu, a youth cursed by the spirit of Rika Orimoto, convincing the elders to postpone Yuta's execution and enroll him. Gojo mentored both, emphasizing their potential to match his strength.
Personality-wise, Gojo displayed playful nonchalance with students and allies but revealed arrogance and cruelty toward enemies and the jujutsu establishment. His combat style radiated aggressive confidence, often showcasing his techniques. Though he proclaimed invincibility—famously stating, "Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the honored one"—Riko's death and Geto's betrayal instilled a deeper responsibility to protect the vulnerable. He maintained icy disdain for the higher-ups, leveraging his overwhelming power to threaten them openly.
Gojo's abilities centered on the Six Eyes and Limitless. The Six Eyes granted ultra-precise cursed energy perception, near-limitless processing power, and maximized cursed energy efficiency, enabling him to sustain techniques like Infinity indefinitely. Infinity formed an imperceptible barrier infinitely slowing approaching objects, nullifying most attacks. Derived techniques included:
- **Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue**: A gravitational force attracting matter, capable of imploding targets or destroying structures.
- **Cursed Technique Reversal: Red**: A repulsive force amplified by Reverse Cursed Technique.
- **Hollow Technique: Purple**: A destructive sphere merging Blue and Red, erasing matter.
- **Domain Expansion: Unlimited Void**: A sure-hit domain flooding targets with infinite information, paralyzing them.
He also mastered advanced barrier techniques (e.g., Curtain), Reverse Cursed Technique for healing and replenishment, teleportation via space manipulation, and Black Flash. His physical prowess featured exceptional hand-to-hand combat, speed exceeding top sorcerers like Naobito Zenin, immense strength, and endurance. During the Shibuya Incident, Kenjaku exploited Gojo's lingering attachment to Geto's body to seal him within the Prison Realm. After release, he battled Sukuna (inhabiting Megumi) in Shinjuku, demonstrating adaptability—spamming Domain Expansions, utilizing anti-domain techniques like Simple Domain and Falling Blossom Emotion, and landing multiple Black Flashes. He nearly defeated Sukuna but was ultimately slain.
His death created a power vacuum, destabilizing the jujutsu world and forcing his students to face heightened threats without his protection.
