OVA
Description
Asuna Kagurazaka is a central figure in the *Negima!?* universe. A 14-15-year-old orphan student at Mahora Academy, her past memories were erased by her former teacher, Takahata, leaving her unaware of her true origins. She supports herself through a newspaper delivery job despite receiving free tuition from the dean. Academically, she struggles significantly, especially in English, earning the nickname "Baka Red" among the "Baka Rangers" due to consistently low test scores – a consequence of her memory alteration.

Her personality combines a short temper with fierce protectiveness towards those she cares about, often resolving conflicts physically using her signature harisen (paper fan). She harbors a persistent, unrequited romantic interest in Takahata. Her dynamic with her 10-year-old homeroom teacher, Negi Springfield, evolves from initial friction into a deeply bonded, sibling-like relationship. She acts as his protector, frequently dismissing any suggestions of romantic involvement due to his age.

In the *Spring OVA*, Asuna confiscates Negi's magic study book, insisting he rest, sparking an argument. Negi retorts that his studies are none of her concern, provoking her anger. The situation escalates when Negi sneezes, inadvertently disintegrating Asuna's clothes, intensifying her fury and leading her to attack him with her fan. Later, during a class trip to a private island orchestrated by Ayaka Yukihiro (who aims for time alone with Negi), Asuna remains visibly upset with him. Despite Ayaka's distractions and classmates' mediation attempts, the tension persists throughout the trip.

A pivotal aspect is her latent ability to nullify magic, tied to her true identity as Asuna Vesperina Theotanasia Entheofushia, the Twilight Imperial Princess of the fallen Vespertatia kingdom. This heritage grants her world-altering capabilities, historically misused for destruction. Rescued as a child by Nagi Springfield (Negi's father), her memories were sealed for protection. These memories resurface intermittently in dreams and are fully restored later by the antagonist Fate Averruncus. Her magic-canceling ability is enhanced through a "Pactio" contract with Negi, yielding the artifact "Ensis Exorcizans" – a weapon shifting between a harisen and a large sword, amplifying her innate power.

Her role expands as she joins Negi's quest to locate his father in the magical world, becoming a key member of his group, "Ala Alba" (White Wing). She is later revealed as a relative of Negi – her older sister, Arika, is Negi's mother. This familial tie leads her to become Negi's legal guardian in Japan. Her journey culminates in confronting adversaries seeking to exploit her powers to dismantle the magical world, reinforcing her significance beyond her initial role as a student.
