Lust is a homunculus, an artificial human created through alchemy. Her origin and development differ significantly across Fullmetal Alchemist adaptations. In the manga and 2009 anime, Father created Lust as one of seven homunculi embodying the seven deadly sins. She is the second created and represents bloodlust. Her Ouroboros mark rests on her sternum. Physically, she manifests as a tall, pale-skinned woman with wavy black hair, mauve eyes, and a voluptuous figure, typically clad in a form-fitting black dress, gloves, and boots. She operates alongside Gluttony, exhibiting an almost motherly closeness toward him, and maintains a working relationship with Envy. Serving as an intelligence gatherer and manipulator for Father, Lust works covertly, adopting aliases like "Solaris" to infiltrate human society, such as seducing Jean Havoc to gather intelligence on Roy Mustang. Her primary weapon is the "Ultimate Spear," extending her fingertips into razor-sharp blades capable of piercing virtually any material. Possessing superhuman strength, speed, and rapid regeneration fueled by an internal Philosopher's Stone, she can heal any injury, including decapitation or incineration, though each regeneration depletes the Stone's finite energy. Calm, strategic, and deeply disdainful of humans, whom she views as frail and foolish, Lust takes sadistic pleasure in manipulating and torturing them, inciting civil war in Liore and murdering Father Cornello. Despite loyalty to Father, she openly criticizes impulsive actions by other homunculi, like Envy framing Maria Ross. During the Laboratory 3 confrontation, she critically wounds Havoc and Mustang before being repeatedly incinerated by Mustang's flames, exhausting her Stone. In her final moments, she acknowledges Mustang's resolve while cursing him to future suffering. In the 2003 anime, Lust originated from Scar's brother's failed human transmutation attempting to revive his deceased lover, resulting in her imperfect rebirth. Envy later manipulated her by providing red stones to stabilize her form. This version retains manipulative tactics and the Ultimate Spear but gradually recovers fragmented human memories, especially after Liore. Driven by a yearning to become fully human, she covertly aids the Elric brothers against her fellow homunculi. Her death occurs when Wrath exploits a locket containing her human hair to immobilize her during a transmutation, enabling him to fatally stab her. Across all media, Lust shares core traits: a strategic mindset, a motherly bond with Gluttony, and the use of seduction for manipulation. Her role frequently catalyzes major plot developments, revealing homunculi vulnerabilities or exposing conspiracies within the military hierarchy.
