Movie
Description
Bobby Shearer, known in the original Japanese version as Asuka Domon, is a character who first appears as a transfer student to Raimon Junior High. He is a tall and lean player with a calm and somewhat unassuming presence. His background reveals that he originally lived in the United States, where he was a childhood friend of Sylvia Woods and Eric Eagle. A traumatic car accident involving Eric caused Bobby to stop playing soccer for a period, but he eventually resumed the sport after moving to Japan.

Initially, Bobby is not who he claims to be. He enrolls at Raimon under the orders of the influential and manipulative coach Ray Dark, acting as a spy from the rival Royal Academy to gather information on the up-and-coming Raimon Eleven. His mission is to observe the team and report back, a role that creates an internal conflict for him. This conflict comes to a head when another spy, the team's temporary coach Fuyukai, plans to sabotage the team's bus. Bobby secretly intervenes to prevent the sabotage. He then confesses his true identity as a spy to the entire Raimon team, expecting to be expelled. However, the team's optimistic and determined captain, Mark Evans, defends him, recognizing his genuine love for soccer and his contribution to the team. This act of trust allows Bobby to abandon his original mission and fully commit to Raimon, becoming a loyal and valued member.

Bobby's personality is characterized by a relaxed and easygoing nature, though he possesses a deep sense of loyalty and protectiveness toward his friends. He tends to avoid unnecessary conflicts but is unwavering when it comes to the safety and well-being of his teammates. His early guilt over his espionage work and his past trauma regarding the accident with Eric fuel a strong desire to make amends and protect those he cares about. His relationship with Mark Evans is particularly significant, as Mark's unwavering trust gives him a second chance and a true place to belong. He also shares a deep bond with his childhood friends, and this connection is central to his story arc. When the Football Frontier International tournament arrives, Bobby decides to return to the United States to play for the national team, The Unicorn, alongside his old friend Eric Eagle.

Throughout the series, Bobby primarily plays as a defender but is also capable of playing in a midfielder position. His abilities focus on strong defensive maneuvers and powerful combination shots. His individual techniques include Killer Slide, a swift and disruptive sliding tackle, and Volcano Cut, a defensive block. He is particularly known for his combination techniques, which he often performs with Mark Evans and Eric Eagle. These include Tri-Pegasus, a three-man running shot that engulfs the ball in a blue, horse-shaped flame, and its more powerful evolution, The Phoenix, which surrounds the ball with a massive, fiery phoenix. He is also part of the combination move Death Zone 2, performed with Mark and Jude Sharp, which creates a spinning vortex around the ball.
