Description
A struggling Japanese novelist dies and is reborn into the world of his own self-published BL novel, a story he wrote in an attempt to gain readers. He awakens as Kreis von Louboutin, the neglected eldest son of a powerful marquess and a minor villain who is fated to be executed as a lackey of the story's final boss. Kreis regains his past-life memories only after that execution, and immediately the clock rewinds, sending him back to the point before his death. Armed with knowledge of the original plot, he resolves to survive and take revenge on the family that mistreated him.
But Kreis quickly discovers that his own novel got many details wrong. The true story is darker than he wrote, involving hidden dark magic, sinister rituals, and deep manipulation behind the scenes. His initial goal of vengeance shifts as he becomes drawn to King Siegfried, the story's stunningly beautiful final boss. Kreis feels an inexplicable, overwhelming desire to protect Siegfried at all costs. Together, they navigate a web of political intrigue and personal trauma. The main characters of the original tale, including Kreis's younger brother who was supposed to be the hero, soon gather for Kreis's birthday party, setting the stage for a battle against predetermined fate.
The narrative unfolds through several arcs. Early on, Kreis relies on luck and his meta-knowledge to thwart smaller threats, but he soon faces a major time-loop sequence where he must repeatedly die and restart to overcome an unexpected enemy faction. Through these loops, Kreis uncovers layer after layer of truth behind his own flawed novel. He also opens an orphanage, teaching street children to cook and read, as he works through his own history of neglect and abuse. The central romance between Kreis and Siegfried develops slowly, culminating in a decisive, earned happy ending. The story balances dark fantasy elements with a heartfelt love story about striving to rewrite a cruel narrative and protect the person who matters most.
