Fuusuke, a young man worn down by an exploitative black company and relentlessly pursued by debt collectors, attempts to take his own life. He is saved by Hanaichi Tsutsujimori, a man who runs an estate liquidation company. To repay his debt, Fuusuke begins working for Tsutsujimori, only to discover that his new job involves more than just clearing out the possessions of the recently deceased. He soon learns he must also tend to the lingering thoughts and souls that the dead have left behind.

The story takes place in a contemporary setting, following the daily operations of the Tsutsujimori estate liquidation company. The main characters include Fuusuke, a young man desperate for a second chance who is thrust into a supernatural line of work, and Hanaichi Tsutsujimori, the enigmatic owner of the company who introduces Fuusuke to this hidden world.
